I don't know the ins and outs of it, but as someone posted above, perhaps the club can come out and explain the decision / reasoning behind the very late change from a 3:00pm to 12;30pm kick off. Both BFC and SYP have known about this fixture for months and those who have already booked train tickets and travel long distances to and from Oakwell could be impacted significantly.
An absolute disgrace, announcing this decision after tickets have already gone on sale. Also,Will folk stop trying to hijack this thread for a parts of the ground unfit or whatever. This is about the changed kick-off time and the timing of the announcement
Thats a fair question but even if that is the case changing the kick off time just 2 weeks before Kick off and after tickets have been on sale at an advetised time of 3pm is unacceptable. Nothing can have changed in the last few weeks to make a change in time necessary, so if its really is the case that the time needs to be lunchtime for cost saving reasons that should have been announced weeks ago.
I believe that clubs don't actually have to discuss the game with police at all so if the club don't want any police there they just don't ask the police for advice but if they do ask police for advice then they have to accept that advice regarding policing numbers. So that means the club have to actually contact the police and ask them. It would be interesting to know exactly when they did that
Cheers mate. That makes sense. Like you say there's more trouble in Greggs on giro day then Oakwell but expecting sense to come out of SYP is a forlorn hope.
Yeah it'll be nice for a explanation, could understand if it was changed once the TV matches we're announced but that was a month ago, why now? Especially with tickets on sale, the club now have to reprint all tickets showing 12.30 KO
Personally speaking... what a complete disaster. Plans now in tatters and at least two mates now unable to attend. I don't understand the whole process for policing matches so I'm speaking from an uninformed position. Why the hell leave it so late? We all expected the change, we never get to play the Sheffield clubs at Oakwell at a normal time, this despite minimal trouble in recent years. But I didn't expect a change so late in the day. What a farce. We now have the last truly interesting match of the campaign kickng off at a time that usually ensures a sterile atmosphere and a not much better match. It won't stop any potential trouble, fans will simply drink earlier and quicker. Wednesday fans will now try to get into town even earlier, as will our drinkers. Those who want to engage in aggro will still do it, indeed after the match there's the whole afternoon to do so. Personally I think fans on the pop from 10am or earlier, all well on their way are more likely to kick off at 2pm, whilst still out drinking, than at 5pm when most cba and head home. Let's be fair, the only trouble may be at the flashpoint on the level crossing. That'll be it. Against Leeds after a full days drinking, the only bother was caused by their lot in our end and a few idiots on the Ponty. No bother in town. It's just an unnecessary kick offr change that can only suit the police and lessen the enjoyment of the match for everyone else in attendance. Even the players never seem that up for early kick offs... rarely have i seen a good match kicking off early on.
Andy. Noted your comments and unfortunately as the club web site says " On the instructions of South Yorkshire Police". When i have my next SLO meeting i will try to get clarification over the timescales they have to make these instructions. I know that several people will have their travel plans disrupted, some may even now miss the game. Several clubs have an agreement with their local rail network to allow easy trf of tickets even at short notice, for match time changes. This topic is on my list for my next meeting with club. PS Don't walk to game !!!!!
Historically there's been trouble at this fixture. Makes perfect sense that it's been moved. Inconvenience yes, but certainly not a daft idea. Sent from space using satellites and things
I agree always going to be the case It's the lateness of the decision that's most frustrating Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mate, it should have made perfect sense in June when the fixture was first announced Sent via Royal Mail and typed up by my Tapatalk byatch
Its not the fact its been changed that's the problem, it the lateness of the announcement. People will have had their arrangements sorted for months.
Disgusting to change the time at such short notice when people have already made plans. Since this fixture got announced, it was so long ago someone could have dropped pregnant and given birth. Yet it's today three weeks before the game that they change it. We've not had a decent 3 pm home game all season apart from maybe Huddersfield even though the first half performance was arguably our worst at home all season. We dropped on Villa and Newcastle for night games, Leeds at half five and now this.
i do think it's about time we started getting some answers. changing KO at this stage is taking the piss.
Dot mind 5:30 kick offs but 12:30 takes the piss for any fans travelling from a distance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
