Armstrong in the England Under-20s squad

    They've got 3 matches in France in between our Norwich and Sheff Weds fixtures. Mawson and Holgate are both in the Under-21s.

    Bree hasn't got in at any of the age groups. Can't understand why when Callum Connolly is in the Under 20s. I don't know who advises on the selection of these squads but it seems to be on reputation - those lads who've been at prominent academies and have played in the England age-groups since being schoolboys are selected rather than those who are performing week in week out in the professional game.

    Players at all levels are picked based on name not ability. It's the reason that England fail at every level

    As daft as the rule that allows someone that hasn't been under 21 for three years (Alfie Mawson who's 23) still be called up for the under 21s.

    In Callum Connoly's defense,he's been playing regular ish for Wigan since January and impressing by all accounts. Scored a couple of good goals just after he signed for them.

    Agreed, look how many Man Utd players are in the senior squad for example. If Everton or a similar team were 6th in the league there'd be no way they'd have 5 players in the England squad, especially as Man Utd's best players are foreign (Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, De Gea).
