I agree, the club needs to be run in a more professional manner. Have you thought about applying for CEO?

I'm tempted not to respond as you are clearly in wind-up mode, but my understanding of players whose contracts were due to expire in June 2017 is as follows:

    Winnall - gone
    Hourihane - gone
    Bree - gone
    Scowen - probably going
    Watkins - probably going
    Davies - contract extended

    Bradshaw better than Winnall
    Bree always injured.
Scowern still here anything else is hyperthetical. Watkins as above

It's all well and good saying this stuff, maybe it's cathartic for you, maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong...but what use is it?

You have no solutions and even if you did, you have no way of implementing them.

You're powerless and you're frustrated by that.

Unfortunately, until you accept that something you love will get used and abused without you having a say in what happens to it you will never find peace.

We need to sign that Shiva bloke, he's sort it all out.

Or Buddha, we'd find peace and a decent striker in one package.

No one's "supposed" to be grateful for anything, nor disappointed for that matter.

Everyones free to make their own judgement based on what they see on the pitch or guessing what's going on behind the scenes, because no one really knows. It's all up for debate.

Just my opinion, but all the playoff hopes were pie in the sky. Yes, the reds have exceeded most of our expectations, but 1 win from all our games against the current top 7 teams, pretty much tells us where we are.

    Really? Based on what?

Winnall liked to miss a chance or three but Bradshaw misses for fun at times to my eye.

Don't get me wrong, like him and I think he'll have a better season next year, but I don't think he's better than winnall.

While I'm on it, I don't now nor did I then blame the club for selling the players they did. It was all about the money, ok. But I got it. We do need to spend some of it though.

It would have been hugely tough then to make the playoffs. So I also understand why whilst replacements came in they didn't get a striker or much other than mowatt which was designed for anything other than to get us to the end of the season.

However, I didn't anticipate us being this toothless. We are still creating the chances, we just miss them all - the loss of Hourihane looking less impactful than winnall which I did not see coming at all. I thought losing Conor would be the major difference. James is a different player to Hourihane but we still have the ability to create chances.

So I do worry about next season, as matty James is unlikely to come back, scowen and Watkins I think will probably go, so all those need replacing on top of the minimum three forwards we already need.

Going in with a practically completely new side is one thing, but it will also be a completely new side Barnsley style, with a few cheap signings from the lower leagues and a couple on loan from the premier league that we've never heard of.

There's only so long we can get away with that. We need a proper Championship standard goal scorer, we could maybe carry a couple of cheaper players elsewhere. Otherwise, even if we keep the majority of the defence, (the centre backs, yids and davo) we might be next year's Rotherham. We can do perfectly fine next season though, if the owner deems it fit to allow us to spend perhaps a third or half of the transfer incomings we've had (including stones and Mawson). That though is up to him and his family I guess.

It won't be spent as you don't buy a player for good money then pay him our wages.

I'd be very surprised if our quality into the box hasn't suffered as well. I'd say it's a combination of poorer supply and blunter finishing. I used to wonder sometimes if Hourihane's assists were unfairly skewed by him taking all the set pieces. However, we visibly don't offer as great a threat in those situations now. Only Hammill (2) has contributed more than one assist since Hourihane left.

I think we miss both. In hourihanes case, not just his ability to deliver a set piece, but his shooting in open play.

If you look at Saturday, we had quite a few pot shots from the edge of the box. They were either too tame or went over the bar.

Well, you are probably right about us all being powerless, but a good start would be to appoint a good CEO now so that contracts can be negotiated and pressure taken off Hecky and his staff. Someone who is realistic about length of contracts for new players coming in and knows the value of outgoings. Huddersfield are a bigger club than us when they are doing well and a smaller one when they are not, but they are showing some ambition. If we are to avoid becoming next years Rotherham (no offence to them) we need to be making moves now. The club is well supported and I include Patrick in that, but it is far from well managed.
