I would have seriously thought we would have had a CEO in place at the club now. If the club are waiting until the end of the season, I don't see the logic in that whatsoever. Someone coming in now could build the relevant working relationship with Hecky and get his boots under the table, gaining an understanding of the clubs philosophy and getting things ship shape for next season. We will be in danger of entering more uncertainty come the end of the season and the start of a new transfer window. I'm sure Hecky has his targets, we should be getting straight in there for his top targets and not having to deal with appointing a CEO first.

Why not poach someone with a decent reputation maybe from a club in the lower leagues. Just by looking at the football business awards, one person would spring to mind, Steve Curwood currently at Fleetwood Town who won the league one CEO of the year award.

No not at all, just seems like something that should be addressed before the end of the season so we can hit the ground running in prep for the new season and player contract dealings. Would just like to know if there is a reason for the delay in appointing someone.

Maybe the ones we have interviewed have been far too ambitious.

This is the biggest issue I think at present. Now is the time to be finalising contract offers for our existing players and layng down firm plans for early summer transfer activity. We may well be doing just that but without a CEO, I do question how advanced any plans are likely to be, or the likelyhood of us forcing through deals quickly. The club often say 'we'll wait until the end of the season to see where we are' etc. Well this year we know exactly where we're going to be. To wait until May/June to start targetting players would be suicidal. I don't know how integral a CEO actually is when it comes to transfers, perhaps Hecky can do a lot himself. But January suggested our lack of an effecitve figure in that role cost us a couple of deals and certainly put far too much pressure on an already very busy manager.

Probably find that most targets would be on 3 month notice period so we may well have already hired someone

If imagine that this is right people seem obsessed with this for no real reason. It'll be in hand.

Absolutely right. I'm convinced the same happened with Mansford for example.

The 3 months notice thing feels a bit unlikely unless we're getting someone from a completely different sector - if we've gone & got someone from another club the likelihood is they'd be placed on immediate gardening leave or have an agreement for them to start immediately (IE like Mansford & Leeds).

It's without doubt the single most important issue at the club right now considering the challenges we faced in January & the busy Summer we're gonna need to have (and considering the impact the lack of a CEO had on Hecky in January). He said himself that he needs someone in when I saw him recently & he's his own ideas of what that role should be. It'll be interesting if that's the route the club go down.

No, I agree. I was just being facetious.
