All depends on the player when we signed bradshaw preston and rotherham had both had bids for him turned down so we did well to sign him after he handed his transfer request in. Morsey was out of our price range in terms of wages, armstrong has signed a new 5 year deal at Newcastle before he came here so that was always a no, similar with kent. Our probben isn't attracting the players who aren't getting played at championship or above like morsey it's the wage structure we have in place. If we could have matched wigans alleged 15k a week they pay morsey or even got close he would be here.

You are arguing with yourself mate. As I said originally wages will stop us attracting these players I didn't agree with anything that Op said. If you are looking to progress then you have to at least try to get these players as we have with Mowatt. Southampton instituted there on version of the plan attracting improved targets as they progressed but they had the benefit of a very rich owner and a bigger fanbase.

Im not arguing with you mate I agree with some of what the op said but barnsley is a attractive club to young hungry players. Exept we have a strict wage structure to stick to other wise hecky would have probley have ashley fletcher josh brownhill and Isgrove to pick from on April the 1st. But I still believe it's a good place for young hungry players look at Mawson wasn't getting picked at brentford had offers from bradford and allegedly sheff united chose us.

I completely agree about that. I don't think we have any problem attracting players and good players. Brownhill still surprises me as the leaked wage bill from Bristol has him at 4k which I presume we can afford. He clearly just preferred Bristol. That's the exception though wages are our issue.

If I was a good young player with potential Barnsley would be a great club to join. Sign a contract, run it down whilst the brilliant management team improve you no end and move on for many times more money by refusing to sign a new contract.

Didn't know about the leaked wage sheet that's interesting. Quite suprised but I suppose at the beginning of the season we had a squad full of unproven championship players and no one expected us to do so well maybe he thought he would be in a struggling side with us I don't know either that or like you say just fancied bristol. Wouldn't mind seeing him back if scowern leaves in summer wouldn't rule it out.

He'd agreed the move before we had secured our promotion so makes sense really
