Why has it taken that long ???
Surely it doesn't take that long to appoint someone who can do the job?

Could it be there's a new owner on the horizon

I think we might have somebody lined up but they may be under contract somewhere else so we won't announce it until after the season has finished.

I might be miles away with that theory but it's all I've got.

I'm not sure a chief exec would be under contract, like a footballer is. They would generally just be employed with the right to serve notice and move on.
I think the only exception to this is Ben Mansford who asked for a contract at Leeds to avoid him walking out of the Italian lunatics revolving door without a wedge in his pocket.

Any decent recruit will have 3 months notice if they are currently employed.

I'm sure Hecky said yesterday in his post match presser that they were close and could be an announcement next week

...which hopefully he/she has been serving since January making an announcement imminent.

You're right, what i meant was that they will have to serve a notice period as part of their contact. They may be serving that period now either in post or on gardening leave.

Well - that just depends if you support Barnsley and want the best for Barnsley.
Or you could be just a person (not saying you are) that has forgotten about the club as soon as you walk out of the gates after a match.

I am looking at a piece of paper which to me seems blank , however Nudge is looking at the same piece of paper and can see invisible writing. Keep making things up Nudge, you may get good at it.

I'm sure you know I'm not the latter.

In our 130 history we've employed a ceo for 3 years.

Maybe so - but we've had a chairman and a board of directors to run the club and complete transfers etc for many more of those years. The majority of them. We also had a general manager dealing with administrative club issues.

Our current chairman has more positions than the karma sutra, I'd say we'd be lucky to see him once a fortnight, and our owner and his family have had much more important things to deal with.

In January Hecky was head coach, chief director, general manager, probably chief cleaner and tea maker too.

We need someone to run the club behind the scenes - call it a CEO or whatever you like.

That's more like it. I have no idea why people are insisting it should be a seat on the board. They should be an employee. For me the only people who should be on the board of a football club are those that put there money up. Not employees

CEO is a posh name for the Secretary role that Michael Spinks held for many a year.

I disagree. When you have the owner saying he doesnt get involved day to day and that he is merely custodian then the CEO is the head of the club much like dennis was. If he isn't then the owner is playing down his role

Because when one man has total control with nobody to tell him he is making mistakes then it means he becomes very narrow sighted and misses opportunities to improve. Much like we have for the last decade

If I could have been arsed to edit the post, I'd have said on reflection it's a cross between what Spinks and Dennis did. We do still have a chairman, though **** knows what Maurice Watkins actually does under normal circumstances.
