http://www.90min.com/posts/4809107-...agreement-over-ashley-fletcher-s-transfer-fee Turns out West Ham paid £1m with another £1m based on appearances. Now that is a bargain. Wonder if he'll be loaned back out next season. Also Isgroves contract is up so he'll be available on a free. Brownhill being frozen out at Bristol City, and Sam Morsy will want a return to the championship and imagine he will have agreed a relegation buy out clause. I'm usually in the "don't go back" camp, but reckon all would help improve our squad. For the right fee. Add to that Conor Mahoney, Cam McGeeham and Stevie Mallan wonder who we'll end up signing. Almost certainly none of the above! The club will have a long list of the best talent out there. And with Heckys growing reputation for man management, and the clubs recent success in developing players into premiership players or international set ups hopefully Players will see the benefit of signing for us.
Definitely. Reckon he would be lethal in the championship. He's the type of player would would help Bradshaw no end, and get on the end of Hammills crosses
Agree, his movement and link play was a class above in Lge 1 - can see no reason why he wouldn't have the same impact on us in this league.
If we go true to form then we'll probably know who we were going to sign just into the start of August. At which point we'll be panicking cos all that are left are fourth division rejects and someone from Cudworth Rovers.
I heard Ashley Fletcher is on 40k a week (for an unproven striker ). So if we took him back West ham would have to pay 33k of that if he was to come to us . I'd like to think we've a chance of getting Morsy but he's gonna cost us 500k + to buy . Brownhill might be an option but if he can't get in a poor Bristol city side then maybe he's just not all that . I reckon we should play in a 5-a-side league next year , we might just scrape a team out .
£1m + £1m would have been a price we could have been interested at. However we could have never matched his wages, so it would have always been a non-starter.
Yep, £40k sounds absolutely bonkers but that's premier league average now I guess. I don't think we ever had a chance to sign him, just saw the article and thought £1m just shows how fecked the "compensation" process is. If we hadn't sold Bree in January how much do we think we'd have got in summer? £250k? If Man United only got £1m for Fletcher. Guessing wages will price us out of a loan move too if they genuinely are £40k a week.
Graham Carey is still worth a look at from Plymouth. left Sided attacking midfielder, weighed in with goals and assists this season, out of contract so will be a freebie. I know he is 27 but thats hardly too old considering he would be a freebie.
I quite like Fletcher but I think some people are perhaps overestimating his capabilities , he's only scored 5 goals in his career so far ... 5 in 21 for us in L1 and 0 in 13 for West Ham mostly sub appearances tbf . I'm not knocking the lad..he's young and hopefully plenty of football in front of him but I think we could be getting a bit too excited about him . Morsy though I would sign tomorrow if we could afford him .
They didn't get much because he had never played for them. Bree was an ever present for us so we would have got more.
That's a complete irrelevance. It's is a training compensation fee. Man Utd being cat 1 academy will have resulted in greater expenses than cat 2. Also Fletcher will probably have been given enhanced benefits and salary at united than Barnsley.
http://blog.fieldoo.com/2014/05/the-calculation-of-training-compensation-in-football-part-1/ FYI Conan. Doubt we would have got more than £350k for Bree. Reckon we did ok with £3m plus add ons in January.
It's a really good point . The lad has played 25 professional games , but hasn't really kicked a ball in anger for 12 months . He seemed like a decent lad and good luck to him . He's on 40k a week which takes him out of many football clubs shopping baskets. He could be bench warming for a while to come .
http://sillyseason.com/salary/west-ham-united-players-salaries-85619/ I highly doubt if Fletcher with 20 odd professional goals was offered £40k a week for 4 years when you look at the rest of their clubs wages. He may have been. But just seems like it would trigger a few regular internationals if he was.
To save having to open thread. Was from 2016 so will have gone up slightly. Suppose Matt Jarvis on £18k a week would be a good yard stick. Or Enner Valencia on £34k Player Yearly Salary Weekly Salary Contract until Winston Reid £1,584,000 £31,000 2021 Stewart Downing £1,760,000 £34,000 2017 Morgan Amalfitano £2,090,000 £40,000 2017 Matt Jarvis £880,000 £17,000 2017 Mark Noble £1,540,000 £30,000 2020 Joey O’Brien £660,000 £13,000 2016 James Tomkins £1,320,000 £25,000 2020 James Collins £880,000 £17,000 2016 Enner Valencia £1,760,000 £34,000 2019 Diego Poyet £1,46,667 £3,000 2018 Diafra Sakho £1,760,000 £34,000 2018 Cheikhou Kouyate £1,980,000 £38,000 2018 Andy Carroll £4,500,000 £90,000 2019 Adrian £2,200,000 £42,000 2017 Aaron Cresswell £1,232,000 £24,000 2019 Angelo Ogbonna £2,200,000 £42,000 2019 Pedro Obiang £880,000 £17,000 2018 Michail Antonio £33,000 2019 Dimitri Payet £125,0000 2021 Manuel Lanzini £660,000 £13,000 2019 Mauro Zarate Riga £785,365 £16,000 2018
Only skimmed read the first article, and I haven't got time to arrange for a calculation to be e-mailed to me but I can't see evidence to suggest we would only get £350k for Bree.
