I listened to Radio Sheffield yesterday (Monday) - who are these limp wristed Barnsley supporters that get on the radio and say things in a wingeing Mavis Riley tone.... "We are only a small town club and you can't blame Winnall for going to a bigger club" Defeatist comments like this boils my blood. Sam Winnall went to Sheffield Wednesday because the directors of Barnsley Football Club allowed him to go there. Basically because the directors at Barnsley don't understand that of the 5000 in the away end on Saturday there will have been 100s from the Barnsley District. Wendy fans think they are a Premeirship club no matter what league they are in. Until the Mavis Riley supporters amongst us and the directors at Barnsley Football Club start to perceive the club differently then the potential of Barnsley Football Club will never ever be fulfilled. Think insignificant......be insignificant
Correct. And unfortunately we have the same defeatist attitude at boardroom level. Until that changes we will never move forward. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some interesting points, but I'll ask you what would have the point in the directors saying no to Winnall's Wendy-aspirations? Let's not forget, here was a player who was prone to getting the titty-lip on even when things were going well - I can't begin to imagine how mardy he'd have been if they'd said no, you're staying. Not sure we'd have had much service from him - no point keeping such a maungy ****** on the books, IMO.
2 trips to Wembley, a promotion and looking forward to another season at this level, with money in the bank. Isn't that moving forward? What has anyone from the board said to suggest that they are defeatist? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
As directors you have to be a bit savvy - and stall on interest coming from the Sheffield and Leeds clubs. His agent would undoubtedly have found him somewhere else to go. But the point is this - this proves that our directors are happy to continue to live in the shadow of Sheffield Wednesday- and because of this attitude - hundreds of potential Barnsley supporters will continue to line the pockets of the directors at Hillsborough. The sale of Winnall, our leading goal scorer, when we are ONE point from the playoffs was bad enough. The sale of Winnall to a club that was also in that promotion race made it much much worse. The sale of Winnall to Sheffield Wednesday was and is a total hammer blow that will be remembered for many many years to come.
We should start a different forum for this board bashing. There are half a dozen people on here that could devote their lives to it. Maybe make it into a new religion. Could even fit in with end of world prophecies. Could be called Nudgers witnesses, and go door knocking, saving souls. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Bwahaha. As if my magic another post pops up knocking the club. You do understand Nudger than no matter how many times you cry about it, throw your arms around, whinge like a little bitch, your opinion is no more valid than the first time you say it. You are the epitome of the spoilt little kid who doesn't get what he wants and makes a lot of noise because none of the other children want to play with him. http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/fee-agreed-with-preston-for-hourihane-apparently.237241/ Psycho - how can you bash the directors? They sold a player for £3m+ that you WANTED to give away for £300k, when that player had helped us back into the championship. Wouldn't trust you manning the hot dog stall. You'd give all the best food away for free then moan when we ran out.
Sam was a bit of a mardy sort, tended to sulk if he wasn't picked, wouldn't celebrate goals to prove some kind of useless point, he wasn't a popular dressing room figure & didn't really like the club who were paying his wages & improving him as a player. His agent pushed a move forward, the player wanted to leave, he wanted to leave when Leeds offered £200k last season & this was blocked. He's like a big petulant baby, Saturday showed him as the bloke he is, a knob. Very few shook his hand at the end, not many had time for him & he could, if handled properly, been remembered, fondly, as a guy who scored great goals in one of the best times our club will have, now he will be just remembered as Sammy Pig & any self respect he had is gone. Not that he's bothered tho tbf, happier playing a bit part & counting his money, that's all it was about for him & if a player wants that, with an attitude like his, he is better off out of the door, good luck to him, he will still be in this league next year, just not playing as much football as now. The reaction from him was over the top Saturday, but speaks volumes about the type of bloke he is.
Sam Winnall's agent had that move sorted months before the window opened... I told a few on here about where bree was going that was on going for sometime. You are forgetting wednesday have a very rich owner much richer than ours who can afford to pay sam winnall 18k a week (bearing in mind chris woods at leeds is on 19k a much more proven goalscorer than sam) no other club in this league would pay him that FACT! So saying his agent could of found him another club..no he couldn't not one that would pay him 18k a week. You make out as if winnall wanted to stay and the club forced him to go to wednesday when winnall had to the club after january he wouldn't be playing anymore for bfc.
Quite a few. None since January!!! Believe it or not I wasn't Winnalls biggest fan. He misses a lot lot more than he scores. He relies on good quick service into the area (e.g. Hourihane) that's why he's struggling at Wendy. But when the club GIVES AWAY our top goal scorer - one of the top scorers in the league - to one our bitterest local rivals - who are just one point in front of us in the race for promotion to the Premeirship - then my faith in Barnsley Football Club has been severely severely dented !!! £500k ......to Sheffield Wednesday
