Could have said turnover was x, wage bill was 70% of turnover and we had additional costs of y and z. Be interesting to see this vital information.
What? Do you mean like stating that they will invest in the playing squad, the training facilities, in stadium improvements and in concourse improvements in the summer? Perhaps you would like more than this? Maybe we should make public to the penny exactly how much we can spend in the summer, faxing it to every club just in case they didn't already know, to make sure they charge as much as possible for their players? You were perfectly entitled to have an opinion - but you keep regurgitating it daily, in the same way hemsie used to say the same thing again and again looking for a bite. To hear you haven't been attending games makes me smile though - you are basing all of your argument on results and assumption, with no actual personal opinion on performance as you haven't seen them, at least not live. You are whining on like a toddler chucking their toys out of their pram. Bloody grow up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, I find that particularly strange. If you're not going to games, why keep coming on here and moaning about the club. There's a guy on facebook. A real conspiracy freak who calls Cryne "a crook" and says that all of us that go to games are just mugs lining the boards pockets. He doesn't go, and admittedly gets his match reports from his mates in the pub, but he can't resist going on social media and hammering the club at every opportunity. If things got so bad that I wanted to withdraw my support, then I would distance myself from it completely, and maybe find something else to fill the void. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I apologise for the snide remark. You didn't deserve that. I just don't understand the ire, mate, I really don't. And 'my employer' as you put it to me, he's a remarkable bloke and I'll back him to the hilt. If he's happy to support the club through tough financial times then so be it. Why would you complain about that? But as the accounts state, the forecast is much brighter moving forward. Through selling players. Which causes moans. We can't have it both ways. Without financial support or player sales, the club loses money. It is what it is. I can't believe this comes as a shock to folk. Look at every club in this division and their accounts. There's very little profit in the Football League, period. Next year we'll make the biggest profit. Having finished mid table in the second tier. I see that as success. Others don't.
No one is doubting any of that. What the question is is HOW did we lose that money last season given we were operating under SCMP? Not casting any aspercions or questionong anyones motives or character just trying to understand the facts behind the headlines. Probably none of my business as as you rightly pointed out, "we" have not lost anything, but context is waht some are looking for as part of a desire to better understand the battle the club faces. I'd imagine that the loss is partly down to the academy and I'd further imagine that that is why Patrick Cryne put another £500k into the club but how do we get to the rest of it especially under SCMP.
The revenue in L1 is poor. We'd been there a year and I think were still suffering from the fallout of relegation, plus the change of management, poor crowds, the addition of Hammill et al. Academy. It all adds up. I understand where you're coming from though. I'd rather folk cared and worried and asked questions than not. But in one year, this last year, we have turned everything around. Surely that's the focus, no? Mistakes will have been made. They will always happen. The club is run by human beings. But a hell of a lot of great decisions have occurred too. Surely folk can see where we were 15 months or so ago and compare it to today and think "we've done well" no?
Didn't we also have to pay off Danny Wilson and pay Oldham compensation for Johnson, or was that the previous year? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Compared to 90% of clubs in the football league we are doing OK. Will always be a struggle, always has been. I've been critical of some stuff like club shop stocking replica shirts & ongoing catering issues that could undoubtedly make the club more money. Would be unlikely in itself be enough to turn around a trading loss. Glad we're working on the West Stand, seems a shame for half of it to be closed, when there will be some big matches again next season. Would be good to see over 20,000 in Oakwell again.
We are on course to have the highest average attendance since 2000/2001 season, highest priced tickets we have ever had, record turnover and probably our highest league finish since 1999/2000. Looking o'reyt.
Take your pick from David or Jerry Zucker, they made Airplane, Police Squad and Naked Gun. Would be about right then.
Well at least its communication from the board. It's not something we have done well this year at all - too often fans are commenting in a vacuum. I hope the new CE improves that.
Basically to stop ypu having to weigh through that. Your owning can fiddle the system with cash injections.
The system is not watertight and it was never meant to be. Most clubs in the lower leagues do not spend the amount of money we do on their academy. It could equally well be argued that the loss reflected the difference in spending on the academy, and therefore that Mr Cryne was subsidising the academy rather than minimising the club losses and doing so by increasing turnover. Nothing is ever straight forward and all that releasing increased information from within the club's Financial Accounts would do would be to put more information into the hands of our competitors and increase the debate amongst the fans who do not know the nuances and have not had the training to interpret the figures properly. People are asking for information which not even large corporations release to their largest shareholders.
Good job that we have a qualified accountant who used to work at a Premiership Club who occasionally posts on here. Those with some humility would do well to pay heed to what he puts regarding football club finances. Sent from the darkest recesses of a poisoned mind.
Don't rule them out as the dark horse coming from nowhere to grab that last playoff spot! If they keep winning and the teams above keep dropping points like they are. Wonder what odds they are for promotion right now - may be worth a cheeky 5r.
