Could both be promoted today. In Wilder's case, at Northampton where one year ago tomorrow he sealed promotion with the home club. I didn't rate his chances at the start of the season but he has done a magnificent job with a difficult club. Also Darren F - a bit gobby at times, but he stuck with it to get Donny back up. Well done both.

If you're not inclined to be gracious to them, just consider this. Last year the Fowls watched us go up while they faltered. This year they may do the same while the Blunts and Pikeys go up. Come on the Toon!

Wilder probably had the biggest budget in his division and Ferguson one of the top three in his, so automatic promotion should always have been the aim for both clubs.

Now if Uwe Rosler can get Fleetwood up he should win the manager of the year. Based on average crowds they would be in the bottom half of league two.

Uwe Rosler is a top manager at that level
