Fairs, fair. Last week after reading something he said out of context I posted initially questioning Moncur's attitude. Tonight, after reading people's comments saying he had a good game and then watching the highlights I feel it's only fair to post saying how much he displayed a fantastic attitude tonight. I first spotted him when he looked at Davies after the first goal as if to say 'what are you doing?' he looked gutted. Then after they were awarded the penalty he looked heartbroken and I'd already warmed to him. Then, to top it off, after James' disallowed goal he marched right up to the ref and gave him a piece of his mind. Definitely looked like a player who cares to me.

The guy is class, I was one of few who stuck up for him when our fans wrote him off at the start of his career here so I'm absolutely delighted for him that he's found a way into the side and more importantly, playing really well.

Really hope Hecky sticks with him, he's got bags of potential.

Hecky will stick with any player who is prepared to listen, learn and work hard

He wasn't prepared to in the summer but now he is

He played well tonight but tired so perhaps should have been withdrawn

Goodness knows what Moncur's problem was at first, I think as other fans have said he was used to being one of the top players at a struggling Colchester side. He wasnt used to having to fight for his place here, or even being made to play out of his favoured position.
Touch wood, all thats behind him now and with Hourihanne already gone and James obviously going in the summer, next season could be his big chance to step up!

Along those same lines though Im a bit more concerned now about Mowatt's attitude, no he hasnt had the regular chances because of all the constant changes, but hes hardly looked with it in any games so far.

What I do know is that it was abit of a culture shock for him and his girlfriend when they moved up this way. He's living in Huddersfield somewhere... So yeah, I imagine Essex is a very different place to what the east of Huddersfield is.

To be fair I'd be exactly the same, I couldn't ever live down south. I know that they are now settled here and he seems really keen to impress here.

Ive heard Huddersfield isnt the easiest of places to live, even at the best of times lol. So yes I do understand the idea of home sickness and struggling to settle in a new area, thats something that cant be explained, Im guessing its something youve got to experience to feel it.

It's very pleasing to hear he is seemingly putting in the hard work and it seems to be paying off. He could be a key player for us next season if he keeps it up. He's clearly got the talent, let's hope he's found the effort and application to match.

He's certainly added more to his game since being here, I remember Colchester fans saying he would never go in for a tackle yet at Villa he made some immense tackles.

He'll be big for us next season.

Pity that lovely shot of his early on at Blackburn didn't go in. We scored from the corner but it would have done his confidence a world of good if he had scored that one.

He's definitely a player with bags of potential. He could, just possibly, be Hourihane Mk 2 in the assists, goals and fans favourite stakes next season.

    Why not?

Barring the cup game very early in the season (Northampton was it? I've tried to remove it from my memory) he's played well every time I've seen him, he always wants the ball.

I think he'll be a big player for us next season.

Glad to hear it. If he had spent six months getting to grips with the Hecky way rather than buggering off to Peterbro he would have been a regular starter Feb onwards.

All abart growing up and knuckling darn I suppose.

He turned his back and flinched when in the wall for the first goal and then failed to close the space which allowed their lad to get a shot away for the second goal.

I'm not so sure he'll even start on Monday.

Think it was Moncur Hecky was blaming for not doing things he expects for someone in a Barnsley team (ducking in the wall and backing away from making challenges).

Think he's being harsh if he was... from the highlights it looks like Macdonald gave away soft free kick, and Kent and Jones failed to deal with the attackers for the second. Moncur was covering a lot of ground.

If Moncur isn't in the team Monday think that will be a big clue as to Heckys opinion on him. Be disappointed if so. Been so impressed with how Moncur has come back and tried to force his way back in. I really wasn't a fan but he's quickly becoming a really good player for us.

Wasn't many of us sticking up for him on here when he was getting ripped to pieces for wanting to play football (which is his career) and not bench warm like Winnall at Wednesday. He's impressed and it's good to see him pushing further forward. Hopefully he starts every match now and next season he will push on with us.

Cheeky sod, we have three decent landmarks in Emley Moor Mast, Holme Moss and Castle Hill :) It's a vibrant town and I doubt he lives in any of the rough holes the asian paedophile ring that got named and shamed in the Huddersfield Examiner the other day live.....

Good to see that, to be fair they all seem to take it very much to heart when we concede, and on the flip side they all celebrate like maniacs when we score. Our last Championship "team" always seemed to think there was an inevitability to conceding several goals per game and most of them would just jog back into their own half without a jot of emotion.
