And not only since January mate. All season long we've struggled for a settled front two. I'd love to see another great pairing that defences dread playing against, and that pick themselves on the team sheet. Sure hecky would too Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Our best pairing was winnall and watkins that wirked well even in the championship. Shame one went to warm a bench for treble his wages.
Who thinks we need a big so called target man to play regularly in a 2 up front partnership with Bradshaw. And if thats the case.... who is that player we should sign to do this ?
I get what people are saying about how players we send on loan don't generally make their way back into our team but this might work well with the timing as he will be back ready for pre-season with us. We can do a lot in this time (also longer this season compared to last as no play-offs). When people go out on loan and return mid-season there isn't really a spot for them but with the squad probably changing a lot by the start of next season anyway, this could have come at a good time for him.
Yeah good thinking. He'll have a full preseason with the lads now, plus the experience of playing at this level and league one. I'm not writing him off just yet. Could hit the ground running. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I think that type of player wouldn't go amiss, bearing in mind some of the service Bradshaw receives. Last night was no different. He had possibly the tallest centre half I've seen challenging him and Armstrong, yet we still lumped hopefull balls up to him. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Ohh I havent started on the beers yet Fitz, theres still time for it to go pear shaped on here tonight Think of Aylott & Parker, and Wilkinson & Hendrie (and I cant think of anymore big n little pairings off hand)!! With the right players this does work and I think its what could improve Bradshaw. But surely Hecky has got to do the basics right and stop making pointless constant changes. Payne could be the handy player to bring off the bench if hes hungry enough, and if he stays fit.
I think Hecky has legitimate reasons for chopping and changing the forward line througout the season as no one ( apart from Winnall) has made it their own . Not one of them can say that they haven't had a decent run in the side cos they've all had a decent crack . Can we afford Danny Ward and Izzy Brown ?
I would say that Marley hasn't had a decent run up front (and when he did we played well) and that Payne hasn't had a decent run. In fact the only two who have are the woeful Armstrong and Bradshaw
What a reply! You answered your own silliness there, yes they all count. You seriously discounting a 20 odd yard free kick? But it's ok if they score a tap in. Stick with the stats mate, 935 mins 3 goals, playing as a lone striker in a terrible team fighting for their lives. If he's still there next season and they're in league 1 he'll score more than Winnall.
Its weird how obsessed you are with Bogle. You have a desperation for him to succeed purely to say I told you so. Like you did when he scored his last goal about 10 games ago. You've even counted how many minutes hes played in attempt to prove a point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
True for a lot of players but look at George Williams; he certainly bucked the trend. He may not turn out to be good enough, but I think Hecky will give him a chance in pre season. I would expect us to sign 2-3 strikers in the summer but if someone from the fringes steps up it certainly makes things easier for all!
I never mentoned winnall so why are you comparing him to bogle. I said I know they all count but he has scored one goal from open play which isn't great for a million pound striker and like redarmychris says even wigan fans think he has been ****.
George Waring was probably the last player we had that fitted the "big un" billing, but little Lee played him up top on his own and encouraged the midfield to join in and support him. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Agree. Along with Jacob Brown who is meant to be the most promising striker in donkeys years to make the step up. Shame Armstrong hasn't really had the impact I think most expected. He signed a huge long contract at Newcastle before his loan here so he's set up for a while! Def need a couple of good strikers, to go alongside Bradshaw, Brown and Payne. Be an exciting summer. If we try to get Mahoney, McGeehan and players of that ilk we could start next season with a really exciting squad for Hecky to hopefully improve further. Reckon we'll be looking to bring in at least one highly rated loan striker - Izzy Brown, Ashley Fletcher, Tom Lawrence or Tammy Abraham would be excellent.
