With the season coming to an end and with it our squad depleating I just wondered if anyone expects current fringe players to step up and if so who and what positions?

Our current fringe pool seems to be moncur, mowatt, lee, hedges, Williams, kpekawa, brown, Evans, k.jackson.

Of that I only see moncur and mowatt getting used. Maybe Williams from bench. While I love watching us develop these talents there are so many that simply don't improve, I hope it's more than just two.

Hedges will get used I think we signed him on a 3 year deal so must have seen something that turned our heads. Hope we can sign Janko I think they is potential there and I expect aidy white to depart.

    Moncur has stepped up Period.

    Mowatt needs a pre season.

Think Lee will be gone & kpekawa.

Rest have a lot to prove.

Interesting one. Williams may well leave, I expect Lee to leave as well as perhaps K Jackson and Tuton. Will depend for the rest as to how they perform in pre season but Moncur, Mowatt, Hedges will be in the first team squad undoubtedly next season. Hopefully at least one development player: Brown, Kay and Evans, will be able to step up. I think overall we'll have perhaps a squad of around 14 so I'd like to see us sign 8 permanent players and 5 loanees with development players to cover and come in when needed as they have this season

What, he left a red stain on the seat?

...Williams is definitely worth taking a gamble on for another year as he could be a really effective Hecky type player.

Evans, Lee and Kay aren't going to be good enough from what I've seen.

Then the Kpekawa one is a strange situation. He seems to have fallen right off the radar but it might be felt it's better to keep working with him rather than throw him out, given we've invested quite a lot in him already.

Hedges played well against Blackburn the other week when he started. He'll be regularly used next season and rightly so.

Seems strange that he's on loan in the conference north & cant even get on the bench though & we know he's fit as he played in an U23 game for us last week

If Evans could step up he wouldn't have been loaned to Macclesfield Town when we are down to the bare bones.

Not sure we really were down to bare bones at full-back though. We had Yiadom, Jones, Elder and Janko coming back to fitness so clearly thought he wouldn't get a chance and was better for him to get first-team action at National League level

Does seem a bit odd but I've got a feeling AFC Fylde just signed him as cover. They've got a promotion battle so won't want to change things just to benefit us. The fact he signed a new contract quite recently and we wanted him to come back and play for the U23s seems to imply he's still rated by us. I could be wrong though

Be nice if a few of them made the jump up. The youth development is Hecky's bread and butter isn't it, so if there's a few of them on the edge of the first team, I'd trust his man management to get them there.

On Kay...He played right wing in his only appearance for AFC Fylde but played CM for the first team against Bristol...Maybe it was a case of being used as cover for a different position as a previous posted alluded to? The club saw that and pulled him back to 23s?

    Is Brown still injured?

Thought Kay played well against Bristol City . Had a good solid game, hard for these young lads to get the chance in the Championship but I'd like to see Hecky give Kay another chance or at least involve him and some of the other young players a place on the bench.

I think sessi has more chance than Kay, providing he returns from injury ok
