Preston hoping to sign him in the summer according to roumors today would be a poor move for him imo http://the72.co.uk/79260/preston-north-end-hope-sign-barnsley-midfielder/
*Scowen Can't understand why he'd go there. No bigger or richer than us. A sideways step if ever there was one.
They might be able to offer him more money, I don't know about their finances, but as far as fanbase and stadium etc, it's would be a sideways move. Very frustrating if we can't compete financially with a club like them. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Their owner is worth 900 million apparently. How many more points better off than us for that? Not many. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Very disappointed if he went there. Sideways step, no more. I can totally understand us not being able to compete with the big hitters of this league but Preston? Good team no question but if were letting our best players walk off to teams similar to ourselves then were struggling.
Didn't know that I know ridsdale is there so what could go wrong?? But they average less home gates then us and like others say sideways step at best
Probably the best offer he will get, but I would think that this is his agent trying to put pressure. As a free transfer available with a good season of championship football behind him, you would think there would be interest and he is a Grayson-type player. The only others I can think might be interested at championship level would be Blunts, Bolton, or whoever else goes up - Bradford City? Of that lot, Preston would be about as good as it would be likely to get. Sad to see him go, but I don't see us offering a significant hike in wages.
Remember the Nobbers (Preston's nickname!) got Ben Pearson from Manure after we had finished with him on loan. No they as a club shouldnt have any more appeal than us when it comes to player targets, but if some player prefers them to us, then we're best off without him to be honest.
It's really depressing reading 'News Now Barnsley' website. Continuous speculation about Barnsley players - and it's been same now since last December. Like watching vultures circling over a man dying in the desert.
That one was more understandable as Preston were a division above us at the time. If Scowen left us for Preston I'd be disappointed we can't compete financially with them
I doubt Preston will be having a massive turnover of players this summer, so from that point of view they will less likely be in a relegation battle next season. Who knows where we will stand come the start of the season, so why would he hang about? Plus they are finishing above us this season, and I doubt we will actually offer him what he's worth. All comes down to money didn't his dad tweet after leeds game it's time to put your money where your mouth is now or summat? If he is wanting more than our wage structure chances are we won't budge. If preston owner is worth 900 million chances are they can give him more money there. Even though in reality they are no bigger club than us average smaller gates and will be a sideways move but he will earn more going there.
Speaking to a man that seemed to be in the know the other day it would appear that Mr scowen is not on a grand wage at Oakwell. He told me that's he's on £1250:00 a week, And that he has been offered considerably more but has turned it down
Crikey! Thats poor if true. I know tradesmen that earn more than that. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Dont forget he's still on the same contract as when he came from Wycombe so £1250 a week sounds about right . We've saved a fortune on wages and to replace him is going to cost c500k . We ought to push the boat out a wee bit . To lose him for nowt is plain crazy .
I agree mate. I can remember Patrick saying that the admission prices were there to help us be more competitive at this level (or words to that effect) I would say now is the time try and put that into practice by keeping what we've got. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
