What a season we've had. My guess, and it is only a guess... is its those who don't travel away that are the ones feeling most angst towards the club. Stuffed Wolves, Birmingham and Villa! Beat Blackburn, Brentford, Forest last minute wonder goal! Cardiff 4-3 in the last second! Local derby won at Rotherham!...Its been f*cking right season and the best bit is its a Barnsley lad leading the way! All that and I haven't even mentioned doing Leeds 3-2 at Oakwell which was their first blow in the playoff wobble! I'll say it again what a season! Still Newcastle away to come and a chance for another memorable Reds victory on the road! For the last time what a season! Cheer up, enjoy the last 2 games and then lets sit back, relax and all laugh at Wednesday bottle it in the playoffs again! Come on you Reds!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hear bloody hear. Too right. Fantastic season. Management team of the highest quality. Devaney back. Bobby back. Hecky in charge. We should be proud of the clubs achievements this season. Would we have been happy with where we are now before August 16 kick off? Too chuffin right we would.
I've seen my team win once since Boxing Day. I may have picked my away games badly but I'm struggling to see how that qualifies as a fantastic season. I would say we've achieved what we set out to do in August but that doesn't make it fantastic.
Im as much on the side of disappointment as to how we've ended the season as the next man. However no one can say they wouldn't have taken where we are if we knew at the beginning of the season. It's been largely great. But our downfall in this division is january. It has been each time apart from the great escape
I think there is something in what you say about home v away. Much has been made about January, but 6 wins at home is a poor haul, considering we got 3 of them in August. We didn't win again until December. Watching the reds on the road has been absolutely brilliant, win lose or draw. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Probably not a great deal better than the last relegation season. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I agree with you to a certain degree but people are rightly concerned about next season already. No CEO in place for the last 4 months, our owner terminally ill, real concerns that 4 or 5 of our best players currently won't be with us come August. All this plus lingering doubts about Hecky staying & it is a worrying state of affairs. I'll be there as I've already renewed but we'll be looking at a recruitment of almost a dozen players which is a massive task. A really big summer ahead......
I'm the same and I suspect a lot of others are the same. It's what seems to have divided a lot of folk (and the bbs) between the happy and what could have been. Completely understand your viewpoint I have to say
It's been like two different seasons for me, first half fantastic, obviously. 2nd half of the season, in fact 2017, has so far been shambolic when you take into consideration how well we did up to January 31st. And we all know where it went wrong. Our results, coupled with the fact that a few of our key players are out of contract has filled me with a great sense of dread about what is in store next season. A massive turnover in players will likely mean we will have a slow start to next season, understandably so, but I just hope we don't get stuck in a rut, much like Rotherham did this season, otherwise we are back to square one, In league one. in fairness Davey was **** after january too. He spent an absolute fortune but as soon as he, the BBS, the board, the club and the town saw that we were looking safe they took their foot off the gas every single ******* year until we were relegated. In the last 15 years how many times have we finished a season strongly? And what is the common denominator between those two seasons?
I actually think some of our so called fans would like us to be struggling at the start of next season. Just so they can moan and say I told you. Pathetic.
Finishing lower mid table in Division 2 isn't a fantastic achievement it's ok neither good nor bad. Do you really think the fans of Ipswich Qpr or Cardiff or Bristol City are saying what a great season? Coming into the season with low expectations anything other than relegation was the aim. As the season developed we had other targets. We have not hit those. This defeatist mindset by some of our fans is not helpful. It completely demoralised us last time in this division let's not repeat the same mistakes. Onwards and upwards
I can only recall 2 seasons we finished strongly. Last year and the great escape Common denominator. Only one
