Why didn't Davies come for what should've been an easy take? He cost us 2 points today. We need either a new first choice or at least someone that can seriously push him for that jersey.

I posted about Davies recently and was shot down. He's too far in his comfort zone due to lack of competition. I agree that we need a new keeper in the summer and someone who is going to challenge for the number 1 Jersey.

I'm happy for him to stay first choice but we need back up that's going to properly keep him on his toes. 100 consecutive appearances is a fantastic achievement but it's pretty much guaranteed he's going to start unless injured.

Maybe if Scowen had actually challenged their scorer Davies wouldn't have to come for it.

Remember what happened when LJ decided Davies wasn't good enough.

A new back up however will be coming in I've no doubt

The corner from which they scored was floated in. It hung up there like a zeppelin. There was no traffic to obstruct Davies in plucking it easily.

It's not so much a matter of getting a decent deputy in to wake him up, as having him coached to do his job properly. He's glued to his line and it nearly caused us grief at other times today.

Whether Scowen challenges or not, The goalie should have made it his.

Agree with Silkstone Red. Davies has done well but needs somebody to challenge his place in the team.
Unless someone with " big" money comes in to take us over we look like going with a small squad again next
    Season.

I'd like us to sign Conor Ripley, good young keeper

I'd have gave him the player of the season award with his excellent clean sheet percentage that for a few dodgy moments here and there (Ipswich and Wendy at home for example) would have been even higher. That's despite not having a settled back four all season that he can get used to playing with week in week out. He must have had a dozen different defenders in front of him this season.

It's shocking he wasn't even in the top three, but i'm all for him getting more competition as I think rather than lose his place he will just get better from being pushed by a genuine challenger for the shirt.

I don't see how it was shocking.

All 3 of Scowen, Roberts & Yiadom have shown more consistency & had superb seasons.

Davies for me is battling for 4th, 5th & 6th with Watkins & MacDonald if I was ranking the rest of the team.

A strange one with Townsend, he's got a very good reputation in the game.

He's barely played for us as well & was probably nervous in his first couple of games so is probably a lot better than what we saw

I think there's more than an element of truth in that. He's pretty much played fleetingly in sides that were rock bottom in confidence and it's an unknown quantity whether he'd be better in the present side, not that Davies should be dropped.

Goalkeeper isn't the position I'd lose sleep over this summer in truth.

    Really?

    Townsend isn't good enough.

He's only played ten games yes, and was only picked by LJ.

With good reason. He's not very good. I don't care what his reputation is outside of our club. In fact no I'm glad he's rated, someone might want him.

I like Davo a lot. But he's had poor games. And played 100 consecutively. I'd suggest if anyone still at our club thought Townsend was any good he'd have got a game, maybe in a cup or something. But no.

I can't imagine LJ is sniffing round trying to snap him up for Bristol. He is not a credible alternative to Davo - hence he is a little too comfortable in the side.

Yes I'd have better opposition to push him. Although I'm led to believe young Jack Walton is a decent prospect so maybe we already have a more credible number 2?

I'd ask somebody like hemsy who frequents the u23s to pass judgment on that

I'd get Tommy Lee from Chesterfield and **** Townsend off.

Or Tommy Lee from Motley Crue. He'd be abart as good.
