I don't recall getting one. Have they said sales are down in the comical? I think the lack of messages coming out of Oakwell regarding the future of the club, the sale of our best talent in January and 'bottling' of a possible playoff attempt (again) may have putting people off. I've not renewed this time but for other personal reasons - first time in over 20 years i'll not have had one... still hoping to get to a few games though. Will be a bit weird but needs must... Got to be honest though i see a season of struggle or the club. Once again we have a mass rebuild job which could be even worse if scowen, roberts and watkins go. That will be 7 players that started last season with us,.. You just cant maintain a successful team with that turnover of players. If we kept a team together we could be a yo yo team from prem to champ - instead it looks like we may be a champ to lg 1 yo yo.
No, they finally joined the rest of the business world and started to communicate electronically Looking at my emails quickly, I've had at least 3 emails about the early bird season ticket sale (4 including the confirmation when I purchased). I seem to think when I discussed this with Ben Mansford at the end of last season (or was it the season before?) he said that they only write to those they can't email now and then those who have not purchased as the season approaches get various follow-ups including physical mail shots. The club has done a lot of work with their new CRM system in the last few years and with that and the introduction of Ticketmaster they finally a have large email database to communicate with fans. Obviously, there's been plenty of updates about early bird on the clubs other communication channels. I do agree the lack of messages coming out of Oakwell is a bit worrying.
If it's exclusively electronic communication it's not a brilliant strategy for a football club , despite what the rest of the business world does . I appreciate the ridiculous cost of postage these days but there are still a lot of people who don't have email .
There's also something quite nice about the thought of receiving an actual letter from Hecky. I never get letters from anyone these days (bills, junk mail etc. yes but not letters) so it'd make it quite special. As you say, postage is a big factor though.
Did you not read the bit that said "he said that they only write to those they can't email now and then those who have not purchased as the season approaches get various follow-ups including physical mail shots." Seems like a sensible approach to me for a business with finite resources. This might have changed of course since Ben went but I haven't seen a letter.
I the past 3-4 weeks I've received about 4 e-mails from the club including Early Bird reminder, Newsletter and a Happy Birthday wishes.
Well i had one reminder with an image saying early bird sales finish on 30th April. Where is the letter from our leader about our plans and ambitions and the rallying call? Not seen owt. We've been safe for how many weeks and had plenty of time to prepare it but nothing... The club seems to have become rudderless again since January. Hope Hecky is getting all the support he needs to carry on his exceptional work so far.
Plenty of folk, those not on email were sent letters, a rallying cry from Hecky etc. Those using email received similar, but electronically. And I myself have received around 4 or 5 emails per month. So I know it's happening. There's always something for folk to find fault in, I get that, it's easier to criticise in this day and age I suppose with so many platforms available. But over 8,000 season ticket sales in the first month is positive news. Where's the thread about that?
Agree totally, Andy. Don't get this insistence by some on here to bring the club down at every opportunity. Don't get what's enjoyable or fulfilling about that. Those 'fans' are the problem, not the club.
I received three motivations by mail last year, having renewed at the earliest I Could. This year none, thank goodness, as it must cost the club a lot do unnecessary money with mail shots to all and sundry.
I've been bombarded with communications from the club about season tickets, I bought one and apparently sales are well up on last season. What's to complain about?
I don't know about that. Me and my Dad were ST holders up to 2012. I'm bombarded with emails from the club, but he gets no communications of any type whatsoever. The difference being, he's never given them an email address.
Im trying to point out im on email but have not received anything from the club bar one email saying deadline is 30 april. Maybe something wrong in the process? Anyway, not getting one this season as other fish to fry. Was this announcement also on the website? The clubs main comms tool? Wouldnt mind reading it somewhere.
Thick and thin. Rough and smooth. That's what support means. I think it's tremendous backing and shows that many have enjoyed the season. All of it. There were ups and downs, but fans have seen a very competitive side every week, who have stayed up with ease despite a lot of turmoil and turnover of players/staff in the 12 months. Commendable stuff. You Reds. Exciting summer ahead.
