I may be in Ireland next season. Have you got a link on the off chance there's a provision for anyone living there? Thanks
Try and stay in the UK during the season, but when "I'm called back" it will be could to be able to watch live matches.
Can see the use of a VPN coming in handy for a few away games ppl can't get to Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
As a fan based abroad I've got to be happy about this. However, the long-term consequences could be worrying if it's implemented wrongly.
Well I watched the boxing the other night on Facebook. Someone had put a camera/phone in front of the telly and went live. The quality was good too. Streaming just got easier.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I prefer actually sitting in a stadium watching a football match instead in front of a screen ffs. RIP Football.
its a little hard if the team you support is in a different country. Im not one for going to random football matches to see teams I dont support so if I lived abroad I wouldn't start watching the team where I lived if a supported Barnsley. For me the next best this would be this service.
If/when I go abroad I'll probably pick a local team to watch if I fancy a game, but the opportunity to watch Barnsley on a regular basis would be very useful. However, with VPNs it would be easier to misuse it.
Football thinks football doesn't need it's fans anymore and has been like that for a few years now. It's all a money-making scheme to generate more cash so players get more money.
It'S a good thing stadiums are full every week and clubs don't need the money. This service is a Godsend, you're right.
Thing is though John, you clearly seem to enjoy going to footy matches in general. I'm pretty indifferent to be honest. I've been to a few Zenit games, but with the exception of the superb side that lifted the UEFA cup, I found it pretty dull. Obviously the terrible opposition and lack of away fans doesn't help. Maybe I'd feel differently if I lived in Germany but I just can't get into it. For me it's a choice between Barnsley and no football.
It's not just that though mate, it's another excuse for people not to attend football matches... why go to the stadium when I can pay a third of the price to watch it on a HD stream?
But you can do both - support you local team while still be a fervent Barnsley fan who travels to matches whenever possible. I've lived away from home for most of my life and have followed the likes of Salisbury, Gloucester City and Cheltenham Town. When in Germany I paid peanuts to watch German first division football - Borussia Moenchengladbach. But these were pre-internet days and I always watched these games plugged into a little tranny housed in my top pocket . Oh the joys of "....and there's been a goal at Oakwell" only for the reporter to give me the bad news that the away team have scored again.
The thing is, I have seen 58 games so far this season, a lot as a neutral. I couldn't think of anything worse than being stuck in front of a screen to watch a match. It's not just "football" in my eyes.
I get up at 7:00 every Saturday to listen to Barnsley Player, so for a few quid more I'll be able to watch a live match. I understand people on here saying that it may kill attendances, and I agree it needs to be blocked locally, but it is a great option for me living 5,750 miles away. I've managed to attend two games this season, including Burton on Saturday, but it's a long round trip.
