I loved GW and was sad to see him go. I won't try and say he'd have been this good or this bad etc as he's not played at this level. He was decent for us and played a key role I felt in our promotion. But I'm no head coach.
You must be one ever so proud dad...he is a credit to you. He always gave 100% in a reds shirt. It's a crying shame the club let him go ...Pass on my congratulations he deserves the very best accolades the game can bestow on him ....well done for this seasons awards.
Was he a better left back than Aidy White? Arguably not . Was he a better right back than Yids or Bree ? Arguably not . Was he the perfect replacement for all three ? Absolutely. Unless Hecky thought he was getting another left back I think we should have kept him . At least we saved £200 quid a week.
Depends what sort of full back you want. Defensively Williams was by far and away the best full back at the club last season. Going forward, White had a great season last year. Difficult to compare him to Yiadom as we don't know how Williams would have done in the Championship, although I personally think he should have been shown a little more faith and given the opportunity to fight for his place in the championship, as he's one of the reasons were back here anyway. What nobody is prepared to post is the fact that Hecky must have not seen enough in Juddy W to want to keep him. I think Hecky was right. Just my tenpenneth. Congrats though to a wholly decent footballer, and his dad.
Congratulations to George Williams. However. He was not prepared to begin the season as a squad player and fight for his place in the starting XI.
There was a contract offered to him what we (rightly or wrongly) perceived him to be worth. He chose to go elsewhere for more money. He could have knuckled down and fought for his place and be an established starter in a mid table championship side. Instead he went for an extra 200 quid a week.
George is a great little player. We cocked up. It happens sometimes. Give him our best wishes as always. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
Is that true then, that George obviously thought he'd played his part in our promotion, and he wanted a little bit extra ? (200-250 grand a week more ?). Well good on him because I agree he'd earned it, and apart from a dodgy tackle where he could have been sent off in the Play off final, he hardly put a foot wrong during the season. And bear in mind who we've signed since on loan because of White's continued run of injuries, doesnt this all look ridiculous now that the club refused George and basically told him to eff off. Well done to him for the season hes apparently had at Milton Keynes, and he does deserve Champship football with somebody else soon.
Hope he's aware of this thread and read through it so he realises how much he's still well liked by our fanbase. Well he will be as long as he stays away from those two Sheffield clubs and Leeds ☺
Ok whats going on here lads, who is the daddy here ? lol. Observer, I dont know you and Im still a fairly new poster on here anyway, but Id like to ask what 'if anything' is George to you ?
Observer is George's father, there was a thread last year after he left where it was all revealed. Sincere congratulations, I think everybody on here hopes he has a fantastic career.
Ohh ok, I didnt know that but yes of course I agree, George does deserve it and I hope he can have a chance in the Champship again soon.
