    Because they get so much money from tv rights they can: it's pure greed. They have got the millions up front so it doesn't matter if they get 20, 30, 40 thousand plus. They could and should be charging much less.

    Top and bottom of it is that football clubs in this country consider their supporters to be cash cows who are there to be fleeced for every penny they can get. Of course they COULD choose to use some of the millions that they get from TV money to subsidise the ticket prices and ensure a good relationship between supporters and club but instead it is a case of rinse rinse rinse. Cash cows there to be milked.

    They are so stupid to do it too as they do not realise how short sighted it is and how in the long run it is going to result in young kids who have no affinity to the clubs and will be their downfall.

    Do you know the break even point? If you don't then you have no right questioning anything.

    You will notice his hypocritical stance when things affect him though.
    Do not dare criticise bfc unless you know ALL the facts. Oh and Don Rowing is a lovely person for stopping fans using the lifts because it affect ME even though I dont know all the facts
    Do not dare criticise HS2 because it is investment in the north. Oh and the government are cnuts for wanting to invest and build on land near pogmore because it affect ME

    I reckon if they'd have carried it through they wouldn't be in any worse a position than what theyre in at the moment . Also i bet he's glad he gave his job to his grandson.

    The lifts had a break even capacity over the course of that season I.e a limited number of total journeys. By not exceeding the capacity the club avoided paying further lift maintenance charges. Sounds like good business sense to me.

    Yes but sadly while ever they are paying hyper inflated transfer fees and wages they will continue to do it.

    Cheaper option than knocking the West down would be to fill the corners in. Both corners on the away end could increase the capacity and help with the acoustics and look of the ground. It could then join onto the new west stand whenever they decide to build it. It would add another couple of thousand seats for any big away followings at a fraction of the cost.

    We've got more than enough seats as it is . Give the west stand a good refurb at a fraction of the cost of a new one . We ought to be running guided tours its that old .

    We obviously haven't if the away ends selling out.

    The "refurb" of the west would cost a small fortune, new roof, new sides, new floor, new seating, new offices underneath. A refurb of the west is never going to happen, it's not cost effective.

    Cant see us being allowed to fill in the corner between the East and North Stands. As it is when the North is close to selling out we have to keep the East lower block closest to there empty - It would be more cost effective to open up the West A and B to away fans - its not so many years ago we used to do that - or maybe SYP have made that no longer practical - despite there never being any problem doing it

    We should be in a position to use all the West Stand though - at least do enough work to get it a safety certificate - if thats really why we can only use half of it

    Many clubs can split their stands fine, Sheff U do it with their Westfield corner next to the away fans, West Brom split a stand in two with a fence and a row of chairs for stewards, a corner stand wouldn't be joined on the concourse. This seems to be a major problem at Oakwell though.

    I sit in the West (so l don't have to look out onto it), usually in the lower and it's shocking, l sat in the upper for the Brentford game, l've not been in there since l switched my ST when they built the East stand in '93. That huge gap between the East and West is terrible for the atmosphere and look of the ground.

    We've probably got the biggest away end in the division , why would we want to make it any bigger ? It hardly ever sells out , even Wednesday didn't fill it this year .

    If I remember correctly, the North stand capacity was down graded because of the trouble against Leeds. Say what you like about Wednesday but their away following is amongst the best in the country, in fact it is MASSIVE :eek: can't believe I've posted that .:)

    Wednesday didnt fill it because they werent allowed to buy seats in the bottom corner or the front 2 rows. They sold all the seats they were given and would have sold more had they been allowed any.

    It did sell out, they sold all the tickets they were given, like Newcastle and Leeds did. In the championship next year it will sell out against Leeds, Weds, Sheff U, Sunderland, Derby (if they're up there) Villa (only didn't this year due to night game)
