    Reading the interview with Watkins, do I detect a slight dig at the upper echelons of the club (not Hecky):-

    "There's also just a bit of uncertainty at Barnsley at the moment. "Of the players who got promoted from League One last season, there are only a few left. The club let a lot of players go in January when we had a chance to do something really special (they were four points off the top six).

    "It was a lot to ask to carry on competing for the play-offs after that because it was like starting again"

    Whitey - just announce summit - he might be happy then!!
    whilst I understand that you are an employee of the club, and release information when its been given to you guys to release.......
    other posters believe that you don't have to do as you're told (as an employee) and can release information anytime YOU want, even if you don't know it, or haven't been given the green light to release it.

    the world of being an employee... maybe Hemsy should get a job where he can do what he likes, when he likes!!!!

    Thing is, the young lads getting pro deals, haven't yet signed them. As I say, these things are announced at an appropriate time. And it helps to have them actually signed, with photos and interviews maybe before announcing them.

    It seems one lad may have announced he's getting a pro deal on social media, and so Hemsworth thinks we should have announced it.

    We can't babysit footballers.

    When did I aim this at Andy Clownred2?
    All the comments was about the club and the departments as a group of people.
    Just because you will sit with your head in the sand and let things go by until it's oh poo, things aren't looking good don't expect others to either.

    Now I've heard/seen it written that someone at the club said they offered 5 players contracts a while ago. It was either the manager of the u23's. Chris Howarth or Martin Devaney. With the u18's they get told quite early if they are to be offered a contract or not. The season finishes quite early and quite often they are told before then. It's so they can try and get trials with other clubs or enter into trial matches or get whatever they want to do next sorted. This could be leave education and football. University and some have gone to America.

    How the **** would the "club's needs to say something" brigade have gone on back in the days before the Internet?

    We knew nowt about what was going on at the club apart from local radio and the newspaper.

    so just to get this right - they got OFFERED contracts early??
    so nobody knows (apart from the one that leaked it themselves on social media) if any of the ones offered contracts have accepted them?
    So what do you want the media team to report??
    that they were offered contracts?
    then if the players refuses the contract (as the media team would then have to report) - you'll be the first to complain and give your reasons as to why they might have not accepted the contract of ten bob and a blackies egg!!

    oh..... god dam it.... I've fell for the bait!
    it's been a long day off work!!
    oh well....

    Plenty of info ( not always accurate) on the News Now Barnsley site, the Club website and I get an e-mail from the
    EFL. Latest copy outlines the Art work project celebrating 130 years history, Seasons review 2016/17, Aidy Whites message to the fans and the Retained list .
    Every Club is in the same boat as us. Apart from those in the plays offs the others are publishing retained lists and
    contemplating the replacement targets they are going for.
    I would be surprised if our management team don't already have an idea who they are looking to bring in over the coming weeks.
