I wouldn't like Barnsley to have signed him NOW because of what you've said. On previous ability, he was best striker in league one and maybe in the football league. It didn't happen for Chedwyn but that's purely footballing reasons. I see Evans and Sharp and for purely footballing reasons I think Adam Hammill. But Wilder might think, proper tough pre season season. getting sharp and fire him out.
Morally repugnant. I admire your mate. I wouldn't go to Oakwell if he was in our team. What I don't get is the why from a footballing perspective for all the reasons above but also because he let his club and the fans down with what if we are being generous were ill advised actions. This allowed their greatest rivals to overtake them and led to longer in the wilderness. To decide to trust him not to do the same again is very brave/ stupid. Some of our fans will goad him big time when we play them, just like they did Winnall, Lee Johnson, and Newcastle fans on Saturday, embarrassingly singing "Albion" when it looked like Brighton were going to win the league. We all know the likely outcome Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
The difference for me is that Adam has shown huge remorse for what he did. I've never met him, but everyone I know who has says that Adam is a genuinely very decent lad and the incident was completely out of character. I also don't know Ched Evans, but I have seen nothing to suggest that he has a decent bone in his body, conviction quashed or not.
I have a moral objection to us signing anyone called Chedwyn. I'm still only just about getting over Marley.
You're judging the judge mate. That's judgemental. If Ched had treat my daughter like that, he wouldn't have found me backing him financially and funding an 'innocence' website. In fact he'd find it rather difficult to continue his career in football, what with him being unable to walk. He's lowlife.
I dont think too many people are judging him because he has been in prison. They are judging the character of someone who thinks nothing of behaving the way he did despite having a (bafflingly) loyal girlfriend, and his attitude afterwards. Whilst I am appalled at Hammills behaviour the circumstances are somewhat different, and I think once he sobered up he was genuinely sorry- he also seems to have changed his behaviour since then. Had Hammills sentence not been suspended and he had gone to prison it wouldn't have changed my view on whether he can play for a football club. However if he was still going out and getting into drunken brawls I wouldn't want him to be part of BFC
Wow, what a non story, if it had been me or you we wouldn't have even been arrested for it. They come across clowns like that every weekend, normally the paramedics **** em off to take themselves to A&E.
Regardless of the not guilty verdict, certain facts of the case are not disputed, and based on them he's a low life scum bag, end of.
Of course he should. He did nothing wrong. Zero, zlich. He should be compensated for this to a times of the earning that he went into prison with. 20k was said in court I believe.
Looks like they might be copying our strategy. They've offered newly relegated Hartlepool United £300,000 for winger Nathan Thomas who is 22 years old.
Money can't buy you love but it can buy you freedom if you spend enough on a smear campaign against the victim. Hypothetically of course.
Interesting that you say he did 'nothing wrong'. Even the most defenders of Evans would concede he did something wrong even if they don't think he was a rapist. Hypothetical situation. You have a sister, she goes on a night out, she gets drunk & goes back to a hotel with a lad she met in a bar. She has sex with this lad, he then texts his mate saying 'I've got one', his mate (who she doesn't know) then sneaks into the room uninvited & has sex with her whilst she's drunk & unbeknown to her his mate films it through the window. Nothing wrong? Really? If it was my sister I'd think he was a scumbag. You? The 'nothing wrong' comment scares me
Rewind. I don't drink enough to get tipsy never mind drunk never mind not remembering the day before in a state I can't control myself. If my sister got that way I would be questioning her for certain. BTW my sister doesn't drink much either. She's controlled enough not to over drink and put herself in a position where things can happen What needs addressing and it's something that needs to be addressed at school is this problem people have with drink. I at 26 can control my drinking levels, you don't find me over drinking.
