So left to get: 2 full backs, 1-2 centre mids (not "number 10s), 2 wide men and 3 strikers... anything else?

9 players left. I'd love to see Saidy Janko and Sam Morsy back, unlikely I know.

Mallan looks promising - can fight it out with Mowatt for that role, if we're ditching 442.

I'd have morsy back if Wigan paid all his wages.

I believe Hecky said it could be ten. Stevie Mallan is hopefully the first of many.
I'm guessing it could be three more permanents the rest being loans.
The lad Bassett from Yeovil looks to be for the Development squad if of course he comes in.

I'd go for 9 more first teamers and 4/5 squad players who are good enough to compete for a place. 9 permanent signings 4/5 loans.

I think about 6/7 more permanents, and loans to top up vital positions.
I think we'll have quite a few more under 23's coming in too!

I said originally 12 (7 permanent and 5 loans), so 11 more roughly should be enough, unless in pre-season Hecky sees a development squad player who he feels is good enough to join the first-team for good (which is very possible). But at the moment we need 3 full-backs, 1 centre-back, 2 wingers, 1 defensive midfielder, 3 strikers (I know that adds up to 10 so perhaps one other!)

A backup goalkeeper (though not the priority if budget doesn't allow). Maybe Walton is getting closer to pushing for that slot, and having him around the first team now and then may help his development.

3 full backs. We've Yiadom. That's all. Kpekawa seems to be in development (seems more a centre half than a left back to me if he can apply himself), so we desperately need bodies there.

If we can keep our centre halves, i'm happy to go in with what we've got.

2 allround midfielders. I still think there is a glimmer of a chance Josh may sign back up.

    2 wide players.

    3 strikers

That's 11. I certainly expect loans to used again, though please, let's learn and stop getting in more than we can actually put in our matchday squad. If we can keep it to 3 or 4, but I think we need to get the kids stepping into first team contention. We need some steady mainstays that can hold down a place over a few years, as well as a few transfer fees here and there.

I'd expect Yiadom and Roberts to be sold. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Either sold or they have to sign new contracts. Have to base it on what we have as it stands, then shift as and when things change.

    Good question, mate.
If someone claims we need 15 players and we only sign 12, will they then claim it's been a poor recruitment, irrespective of any younger players at the club making a break through? Are there any players from the U23's that the coaching staff will be expecting to kick on this Summer and push for a regular place with the first team squad? How many players currently under contract will be moved on, if any?
I haven't the foggiest idea how many new signings we need to make us competitive next season, so it'd be ignorant & daft of me to conjure up an arbitrary number.

A few months ago Hecky said (at least?) 12.
That's a hell of a lot of players to get ready and up to speed to face a very tough Championship league.

We can't go with what we've got centre half wise. Jackson isn't good enough back up and ideally we want more than one reserve for that position anyway.

Jackson's alright considering he's only 23 and even though he is a bit of a muppet sometimes (Bristol at home springs to mind) he's not terrible, he defends well just not Angus or Robbo standard, he was very good at Brentford.

You wouldn't go to a 3 or 4 week tournament with only 3 centre half options, never mind a 9 month season.

Never said we should, just said Jackson's not that bad, still want us to sign another, 2 if Robbo goes

If Roberts leaves, I'd have every confidence in Jackson to step up and play regularly with Angus

Obviously we'd need 2 back-up centre halves in that case, but the ones we have now are very good
