Watching that makes me think we were far too slow at passing him the ball. If you watch the goal he scored at Wigan he should have been passed the ball first rather than wide. https://twitter.com/England/status/865867540567818240
Or you just don't get chances like that more than once or twice a season at levels above L1. Nice finish though
Of course you get chances like that. We were just so slow. Look back at Gayles second against Barnsley at Oakwell. Ritchie spots the space in behind and before anyone can react properly the balls played and gayle just uses natural speed and put it home and Gayle's not got the speed of AA. You get over the top goals at every level. Playing on the shoulder.
FFS. I do agree that Adam is a talented lad but does every post have to be a thinly veiled criticism of our club.
Nothing against the lad. He may do well. But scoring goals in kids football means nothing. Leroy Lita scored 6 in 9 for England U21s. He was named in the FIFA U21 World Cup dream team. Marco Rigters was on another level to everyone else playing U21 football and earnt a 4.5m move on the back of it. Paul Digby was consistently picked for his year group for England. Even when he couldn't get into our side in L1. Like I say. Good luck to Armstrong. But thought he looked awful most of the time he was with us. Couple of good goals and minimal effort. Think he'll have a cracking career at L1 though. Decent player at that level. Potential to go higher if he works at it.
Sorry I see this again and again. Nasty defenders. Who exactly? Looking at the Barnsley defenders I wouldn't be scared of any of them tbh. They aren't exactly Rojo are they. He's playing against a South American team. They are tough guys.
Maybe Armstrong would have got more chances for us if he had put in an ounce of effort the lazy *******
No you don't. You are wrong. Most teams will get a couple a season. Until January other than Huddersfield we were one of the fastest teams in the league in terms of turning defence into attack.
He wasn't up against our defenders was he you barmpot. He's playing against bairns (same age group/experience as him) He's a quality player, no doubt, but he's learning. Why you've to make it into a dig at us I'm not sure. His season with us will have given him an edge over his age group.
Who cares what age they are. With that logic, AC Milan's first choice goalkeeper wouldn't be an 18-year-old with 66 league appreances. Monaco's star player wouldn't be an 18-year-old.
Robbo and Gus would knock you into next week. Instead of constantly laying into our players because they don't play for clubs that you love, why don't you try seeing what they do well and give them your support. And for the record some of the biggest fannies in football are from South America.
Why are all of your comparisons always vastly exaggerated? Marcos Rojo cost Man Utd £16 million. Dwight Gale has cost teams £14 million in his career. No our players aren't these players, we can't afford these players. That's why we're stuck with brining in young loans who may one day make it. I watched Adam Armstrong for an entire season in the Championship, he's talented, but certainly not up to the pace of the Championship just yet, and his work rate is incredibly questionable. Watching a goal for England's under 21s isn't going to change mine or anyone else's opinion of that. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Armstrong wasn't good enough for us, simple as that. Now I'm not entirely sure if that was more down to his ability or the fact that he seemingly couldn't be arsed most of the time. I wouldn't want him back next season. Also, if I was running with the ball I'd rather have Rojo running head on to tackle me than Roberts. Another also, the keeper has had a shocker there, can't be beaten at the near post like that.
That's right . Every footballer develops at exactly the same rate and at the same age. Sent from the darkest recesses of a poisoned mind.
