The only club who tweeted 'congratulations' were Wimbledon and that was directed really at some of their ex players who were in the Millwall squad.
He made a mistake in congratulating the most horrible club our country has. A club that sells merchandise that is tasteless. Their fans attacked ours a year ago and I don't even think we as a club did anything for them as it was very quiet afterwards. They always pass the buck instead of dealing with their idiots and I genuinely believe the FA are scared of them, which is why they get away with so much instead of big fines, points deductions, ground closure etc.
It's like shaking the groom's fathers hand at your daughter's wedding. You know he's a bit of a bell end, but it's just the right thing to do. Congratulate them today whilst hoping they gift us 6 points next term.
I'd say it's more like your daughter getting raped by a man and a few months later calling that man up to congratulate him when you hear he's got engaged.
I think this thread has got a bit daft. As I've said, I thought it was a nice thing to do; we congratulated the two sides promoted to the Premier League, we congratulated Sheff Utd and Bolton on their promotion, it was a uniform decision to just have a bit of class about us. And is great for engagement on social media. This morning we wished both Millwall and Bradford good luck. Nobody complained about that. So I (wrongly) assumed that by posting an image of us winning the same final but against Millwall, saying well done and "see you next season", that our fans would see that as classy. And, a little bit funny considering the image and context. But yep, misjudged the reaction. As I've explained previously. Hence the deletion. Let's quit the daft ******** throwing rape analogies about though, eh? Daft, that.
You're 100% right, Andy. It was the classy thing to do. The professional complainers on here won't be able to see it though.
Until the FA do something about hundreds of Millwall fans attacking / trying to attack our fans at Wembley then I'd rather we didn't even acknowledge them
Whatever the rights and wrongs of Whitey's original tweet, mate, this was ******* ridiculous. Well below you, fella - I'd get that removed sharpish.
It was obviously an over the top analogy to go with the stupid analogy of acting like you're shaking your daughter's blues hand. It wasn't supposed to be serious. As I've already said to whitey it was an honest mistake by him which he recognised and rectified. Nowt wrong with that
Ott. Absolutely. It was very wrong to use rape to illustrate a point. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X103F using Tapatalk
BFC completely out of touch with the majority of its supporters. The club never really pursued anything after last year's debacle. I don't suppose they were interested.
So mine was a 'stupid analogy', drawing a comparison about being respectful on someone's big day? The only stupidity was your ridiculous rape version. Hells Bells!!!
I do wonder what our top tier fans from our play off final last year that got charged at by those thugs thought of the club they have ploughed money in over the years to support financially thought of us wishing them luck and welcoming them to the championship. Did we look after those fans afterwards? No idea because it was so quiet.
It is not a personal attack on you, nobody really cares who pressers the buttons, Say if we have a player that's just not up to it, like a Wiseman or a Kennedy, Then you can't really blame the player, they do their best... right. There is only two pay rates at Oakwell... Cheap and volunteer
Woukd it have been more apt if he had congratulated him via the medium of Twitter rather than a phone call?
