It's what some of the youngsters call goals, isn't it. https://www.youtube.com/user/mcfcofficial/videos As a Sports fan they are doing so much right and even someone like me who doesn't support them can be entertained by watching the channel. It looks like they are doing a lengthy interview with their Chairman. Part ones already out. Every club should be doing this sort of thing.
how much does that cost to run? Professional level channels like that are very very expensive. Don't have enough time to listen to everything released in Barnsley player. That's enough for me. We don't have a billion fans worldwide to support that type on investment. Not for me.
You are right that they are probably the best at this sort of thing, and it can be very entertaining. But I suppose it's helps when the club involved can channel millions into a youtube channel and get a very little direct financial return from it. The argument will be that by putting this sort of content out there, the kids just getting into the sport(particularly from outside of the UK) will gravitate towards them, in theory resulting in more merchandise and ticket sales. In regards to our media output, I think it's fine for a club of our size. I bet our media team would love to have even a fraction of the budget Man City obviously have. We will have to have a measurable financial return on any money we spend though, which Youtube wont give us...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...C-have-plans-for-global-brand-domination.html That was from 2014 and Barnsley still haven't pulled their finger out and spent £930m just to try and turn our "franchise" around. This new CEO has his hand full pleasing Monsieur Philipe.
Looking at the Video of that Interview with the Chairman it can't have cost a lot. It's been filmed in the UAE but that's no cost to them and he would have stayed in a group owned hotel. It's not easy to see how many breaks they had but I don't think the Chairman would need to answer the question more than once. Anyone can ask the questions. Get Kelvin to ask them,
Decent broadcast quality equipment costa fair bob for a start. Then the video needs editing, cleaning up etc. Then the graphics need adding. I'm sure I saw somewhere that they have a full time production team and production studio on site. I work with independent film makers in both the UK and US, and the costs to run even a basic, inexperienced production crew, for just a 9 week shoot would make your eyes water. So imagine what it would cost o employ the same team 365 per year...
Man city have a bigger fanbase where their Youtube is first choice of viewing is concerned ergo more hits and more revenue. They have a media team at man city thats bigger than a keef hill first team squad. As for 'no cost'. I bet every airflight hotel room and expense has all gone through the books Too taxing to explain why
Barnsley record ALL games of Football at every level. They also record all press conferences anyway. Why would they need anything different?
Of course not. It's not the club hasn't got a chairman or anything. Only clubs like Manchester city can have those, Right?
Your probably right there, but it still doesn't mean that it doesnt cost a fair whack to produce. As an example, a company I work with that make documentaries about horror films were recently quoted £80 per minute just for subtitles producing for their film. And this was a small Indie production, so I'd hate to see what was charged for bigger ones.... Every aspect of a professional production costs, and taking that into consideration I think the work Whitey and the other members of the media team have put it in recent times is fantastic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It would be great for the media team to do all of this if we'd be getting the same views as Man City. It would be utterly pointless to put so much money into this and only getting a couple hundred views.
Manchester City have built up a Youtube Channel. It's not just happened. Take 5 minutes to look at they've done it. Barnsley are so slow at this sort of thing. We had Jimmy Bullard up a few weeks ago. Soccer Am got something out of it. Why not ask Jimmy Bullard. Can you spare 30 minutes so we can record something for our youtube channel. Very simple.
Do you mean Manchester City, the club with millions of fans around the world? Yeah, lets compete without coupld of thousand around Barnsley, with a few hundred around the world.
How many hits do we get on a video? Man City have the advantage of being a top flight club, and are on TV around the world week in, week out. Alot of their new views will be people who have seen them on TV, and searched for them. Even if we are putting on Hollywood quality productions week in, week out we would fit nowhere near City's numbers... And as for Bullard, is well known be does the bit for Soccer AM for the money. For all we knew we may have asked him to do something abs he's said "yes, give me a grand and I'll do it"... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
