A better more accurate comparison would be the media output of Burton or Rotherham. I have to say the media team is the one area that works perfectly for the size of the club. Warm thanks to all those involved Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
I'm proud of what we do. A lot of graft goes into it all, a lot of hours and a lot of love. But we always strive to improve. We are constantly looking at how we can find an extra inch here and there, so to speak. A bit like Hecky in his role I suppose. You try to over-achieve within your budget etc. I know you're on a downer regards football in general and thinking of not attending anymore, but I hope you have second thoughts. Exciting times.
You need to get out into the real world where money IS important and DOES influence what you can and can't do? That isn't a criticism or a dig at you but you need for easier just how much influence money does have on people and need businesses. Man city have more cash to throw at their media team than we do. That's not up for debate, it's a cold hard fact. They have more staff on hand, better facilities, more facilities, they have a bigger budget to get people in too or to go out on location. We can't even afford to replace the dated signage in the stands, where are we going to find the cash to send our media team off to dubai to film something? We'd be lucky if we could afford to send them to darton. In an ideal world yes we would be doing the fun quirky YouTube stuff, I've even asked whitey about the same myself. But even taking budget and cash out of the equation when would they do it? They're stretched as it is
My lad and his mate went to watch a European tie at Man City last season. He brought me the programme back . Inside was a separate "free" book/programme of the same quality as the one we issue on matchdays giving reports on all the recent games of their Academy and Development players for both City and their respective games at International level. I remember saying to my son when I saw it , "how can your average Club keep up with that. " ? Sobering to think that the Huddersfield owner has a personal fortune of between £300-£400 million. It's rumoured Mourinho has given his CEO at United a list of targets he wants probably well in excess of that figure.( £185 million for Griezmann on his own.) !!!! The bubbles got to burst big style some day. Surely it's unsustainable.?
Was it you who tried to post about Newcastle players been on more than Real Madrid the other day or whatever. Now you're saying This nonsense about AG. It's been said he's got a buy out clause for 100 million euro. Again, why does it matter how much personal fortune a mans got. By that Real Madrid wouldn't be in the top 5 teams in La Liga.
"Only" £100,000,000? Thats peanuts! Go on Huddersfield, you can afford him! For clubs like Huddersfield, where their fan base isn't anywhere near as large as most of the other clubs in the league, the personal fortune of the owners is the only thing allows them to be "competitive" in the transfer market. Real Madrid, and other clubs of their stature have commercial revenue streams, as well as a world wide fanbase that gives them a financial advantage over the other 99% of clubs in the world. Also, I might be talking out of my arse here, but don't the Spanish clubs have a different system of ownership to our clubs? I'm sure I saw somewhere that the clubs fans pay to be "members" of the club and vote in a president to run the club every few years?
