yes it is, which shows how desperate they are, and the chronicle are going the way as muitl nationals in taking the money form wherever they can get it... they should know better, in a way i hope the backlash against the Chron is like the sun in Liverpool after hillsborough
They havent insulted an entire generation or town maybe some of them but not 'entire' .If you're insulted by a throw away advert you're just too soft . I didn't even read it, I just chucked it and read the sport .
I buy The Chronicle to read the news. That cover seemed to get in the way somewhat. Took a couple of seconds to bin it and on we go. Is there more to it than that?
Same here. Don't know how much the ad cost them but they were wasting their money as far as I was concerned. I did notice just inside the paper there was a full page ad taken out by the Labour Party.
The editor wouldn't really give a 2nd thought to advertising. As long as the editorial content isn't libel, they wouldn't get involved.
Yep - just revisited my Chron and there it is. That was a waste of money as well. Strange how people always vilify the Mail yet leave the Guardian alone. Probably cos nobody reads the Guardian. Strange how people think that the population get their political views from papers. Strange how someone can't come out with a well presented attractive newspaper that avoids political bias yet is attractive to read. Can't be that difficult Shirley.
In politics little adverts like this are irrelevant. Just like these pointless lovely people who put a sign in their house window saying "vote labour/conservative" get a grip. Who ever see's these things and thinks well I was going to vote labour but that sign has made me change my mind. The chronicle needs the cash it's a advert.
No mate what you need to understand in the Barnsley democracy is that only the Labour party are allowed to advertise . Now that's a proper democratic society .
Bang on. Some of us couldn't give a ***** about the Labour Party and that IRA sympathising lovely person.
Not voting Tory but the inference (not just with regard to this) that because you're from Barnsley Then Labour somehow 'own' your vote and allegiance is somewhat patronising and leads to complacency amongst our representatives at local and national level. We should know our place and let the big mesters tell us what's what. Sent from the darkest recesses of a poisoned mind.
I've never seen a sign in any Barnsley suburb that said ' vote Conservative'. Replacement windows are expensive.
All these political posts on the bbs I for one can't wait for it to be over. The best thing that could happen would be a hung parliament because I don't think I'd like to see either may or coybyn let loose on their own. That's my last political post back to bfc over and out.
That's alright then. They could have said NO and respected the mining communities Thatcher decimated.
When I lived in Abingdon in the early 90s I was visited by the local Tory MP - I think it was the 92 general election, and the candidate was John Patten, shortly afterwards the Education Secretary. Unfortunately (and probably good for my long term future) I didn't punch him in the face or poor a bucket of water on him. The only time I've ever been doorstepped by a candidate. That seat (Oxford South and Abingdon) is Tory, but Oxford East is Labour and quite deprived.
