I agree. If someone put an advert in paper that said dog toffee was the new super food, I still wouldnt eat it. Or think it was anything other than dog $hit.
Totally on the side that this was out of order, but why the need for a petition? Surely people who want to boycott it can do, and leave others to still buy it. Not really something that seems suitable for a petition for me.
I don't need to sign a petition I just won't buy it and hope it goes out of business. It's not free speech to cover your paper with people who branded a large section of your readers tbe enemy within and attacked them and refuses an inquiry into it.its just commercial suicide for a struggling paper.
If Sheffield Wednesday was given the front page to advertise their season tickets I'm sure all the people who dont think the Chronicle is out of order wouldn't object to that either. To alot of people what they have done is unforgivable.
Allegedly, they accepted just £9k for the shitstorm they have created, apparently against the advice of many senior staff. Without circulation and readership, it's hard to see other advertisers continuing to support and use the Chronicle. It was a bad deal and misjudged. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought that to start with, but if you look at the last paragraph, the objective is an apology. "From this petition, we want a full apology published on every one of Barnsley Chronicle social media accounts and the front page of next week's edition".
