I'm a Huddersfield Town fan (don't judge! ) and I have been trying to get the autographs of all the players that have played for the team in the past 60 years. It has been some task and has taken a lot of time and effort but I have managed to get the number that I need down to around 35 players. One of these is David Currie, who I know enjoyed quite a long career at Oakwell. He spent a short time on loan at Leeds Road in 1993/94 and I am trying to get his autograph as I am unable to track him down to write to him. I'm wondering if anyone has a spare David Currie signature they'd be willing to part with at a price or knows where I could contact him? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Good luck for next season!
Congratulations on your promotion! Might be worth contacting West Stand Bogs. Those guys have met up with him in recent years. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Seconded. Well done Town. Let's hope you can strengthen and stay there. It's Hot Stuff ( Curry) who got me first interested in Barnsley. My family are from Bournemouth and I met up with them at Oakwell when the Cherries played the Reds in 1988. David C scored four in a great 5-2 win and I recall Luther Blissett played for them. I once met DC in the Chairmans Suite ( a Portakabin) at the back of the West Stand but I never managed to get his autograph. As FIT has advised WSB is your best bet unless a fellow Red knows where he is. One of our lads Cunning Stunt posted that he had a cup of tea at his house but I don't know when that was. If he sees your post maybe he can help.?
Can't help you I'm afraid but congratulations on the promotion. Fantastic achievement and I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unfortunately I can't help you out. Congratulations on the promotion. Proof that you don't have to throw tons of cash at the transfer market to be successful. All the best for next season. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
As Fitzy says West Stand Bogs might be able to help you. Congratulations on your promotion, I hope you give one or two of the PL big boys a 'metaphorical' bloody nose next season.
It's funny you should mention that. When we got promoted to the prem my mate worked on the trains on the South coast. His workmates gave him a bit of stick about how we would get hammered every week. Mostly jealous Brighton fans, and armchair man united and liverpool. His reply was that we would take a few scalps along the way, and we did. Man United, Spurs, liverpool and Villa just for starters. He had some good days at work following either beating them in the league or dumping them out of the cup. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
That's true they did - isn't he a heavy goods driver or something now. I also echo everyone else - well done on your promotion
I've had a couple of messages regarding David Currie, thanks guys! More importantly, thanks for the kind words about the promotion. I've seen plenty of Leeds fans expressing such bitterness at our promotion! Hope you lads do well next season, you'd have been up there this season if you hadn't have sold all your players. Yeah we're rivals, but I have a massive soft spot for Barnsley, hope you're up there next year!
Can probably get you Andy Holdsworth and Terry Currans. Both live locally. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Armchair fans are the worst. I know an Arsenal "fan" who didn't even bother trying to get a ticket for the FA Cup Final, then sat on Facebook telling everyone how he was close to tears watching it in the pub 300 miles away. Aye okay then.
To be fair, I don't think we would have been so accommodating had you been a Sheffield Wednesday fan Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Neuro surgeon mate of mine performed a full frontal lobotomy on a guy who had suffered a serious head injury. Unfortunately in the end they had to totally remove his brain. They brought him round nipped his earlobe to measure his pain threshold. The Doctor then said to him "say something." He sat bolt upright and a glazed look came into his eyes as he sang " we are Leeds, we are Leeds, we are Leeds."!!
If you do Springvale please ask him about his debut at Forest. I was told he went up for a ball with the Spurs centre forward as he did the ball skidded off his head into the Forest net. Half time came and when he entered the dressing room Cloughie was behind the door. As he put his foot forward into the room bang, Cloughie thumped him in the side of his head. Apparently Cloughie said " keep that useless piece of gristle out of the way son." Not surprisingly in the second half Carl was wary every time Spurs played the ball in the air in the Forest box, especially as when he attempted to jump he could hear Cloughie bellowing " Noooo " from the touch line. Used to love watching Carl and the late great Paul Futcher playing for the Reds. You could be confident if the opposition launched an attack and put the ball in the air as either one of them would let it bounce off the back of their heads into Clive Bakers very safe hands. Clive would then quickly launch an attack by throwing or kicking the ball to a Barnsley player.
Have you got Ken Turner? Lived in our village and played full back im led to believe. My dad knew them well but unsure if his whereabouts now but if he's on your list we can start asking some questions Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
