Go on holiday tomorrow with the wife and 3 kids. The weather is set fair around 29 to 30 degrees for the next week. We are all inclusive so i can happily put at least 2 stone on, and the complex has its own waterpark so the kids cant wait. Im feeling great nudger, thanks for asking.
But there is virtually no correlation between timing and success. We signed Elliot Lee in June last year. Has he been a success? Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to get all out signings in ASAP; but even if we did there'd be no guarantee they'd be great, just like if we signed them all at the end of August (and I certainly hope that isn't the case!) they wouldn't all be terrible
Genuine question - did you feel vindicated that you were right because things didn't go so well towards the back end of last season? And how it 'turned out' - a 14th place finish. Hardly a disaster. Should have been better, but hardly worth 'alarm bells'
Transfer window opens this Friday I believe. New CEO takes his job up on the 12th. Existing player contracts in the EFL end on 30th June. I feel optimistic that targets have been identified and deals to bring them in will start soon.
don't you ever give it a rest, moan, moan, ******* moan, we aint even kicked a ball yet and you've got us relegated, phone the Samaritans nudge
Good shout, maybe the Samaritans could set up a Conference call for Young Nudger, Hemsworth & Conan, now that would be a cheery chat !
I'm feeling extremely relaxed with the current situation and excited about next season. I'm fascinated in who we're bringing into the club this Summer. In all the years I've been posting on the various versions of the BBS, there's been worries during every close season we've not signed any, or enough, players. 2017 has been no different. Being an eternal optimist, I'm of the opinion that we're going to bring in some exciting talent and do well in 2017/18. I have faith in Hecky, his coaching staff & our scouting system. Others may think differently and that's their right, I'm simply exercising mine. If I'm right, every Barnsley fan has the opportunity to enjoy the continuing journey under the guidance of our talented Head Coach. If I'm wrong, then so what? No one will have been hurt by my interpretation of events and if anyone feels aggrieved, then they can always go to Oakwell and beat me up for daring to show optimism.
That's not true. If I feel aggrieved I still can't beat you up. You're much bigger than me. And a trained wrestler
Went to Oakwell this evening to watch my lad play in his 6 a side team. Stood outside with a coffee, rarely experience the surroundings of Oakwell when it's so eerily quiet. Thoughts passed through my mind about when I first started watching Barnsley in 1980/81, where we were then, where we went for years afterwards, the wonder of 1996/97, the dark days of 2002, struggles for years afterwards interrupted by a play offs final win, FA Cup runs. I remember feeling as low as I ever have done as a Barnsley fan watching mediocre players produce dross through the Hill/Flitcroft era, and then smiling at where the club has come from in the last 3 years from being on its arse, and where we are now. Looked around at what the club has with its facilities, the ground. 37 years of memories in an hour. And I feel bloody marvellous. Blind optimism perhaps. And at 42 years old, waiting for the fixtures and the new season like I was when I was 6. We're in a good place. Whatever next season has in store, bring it on. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
Remember two of our former shirt sponsors I SOFT and Big Thing.? There ought to be a shirt with the logo I BIG SOFT THING on just to show Clubs with "iffy " support what a reasonable fair minded bunch we are.! Seriously though how can we ever forget our lads ribbing Oxford supporters by rowing that imaginary boat outside Wembley at the JPT Final - absolute quality. I recall we also came in for praise for our friendliness and humility in defeat after the play off game against Ipswich Town at Wembley. We were invited to share their booze and food at some of the many barbecues they set up outside the stadium after the game. We have our share of hotheads but in the main as fans go whilst we can be seen to be "tribal" in my opinion we're not as bad as some I can recall over the years.
More concerned about the general election than ******* football. Not missing it one bit at the minute. If I do consider it for a moment then all I can say is we have signed one player of unknown quality but it's far too early to be concerned about that. The later it gets in recruiting the harder it will probably be. Saying that I have total faith in Hecky. Final point, it won't affect anything either way how much hand wringing I do so as another poster has said; "what will be will be".
