Would love him back. People rightly raise his lack of end product but think he more than made up for that with his workrate and pressing. Scowen did a similar job out wide last season to great effect. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk
I'd love him to sign for us but it won't happen. He'll be looking for wages far in excess of anything we could offer. Very little experience of competitive football, most of it with us in league one and he'll still be after (and probably get) more than £10k a week. Modern day football is proper s**t......
Well if that is the case we should be making a strong bid ourselves. His energy is well suited to our game. He knows the club, knows what we're about, is popular with the fans and loved it when he was with us before. Seems a no brainer to me.....
He is pushing 25 now and whether we are interested will be dependent on whether Hecky believes he can significantly improve his effectiveness at Championship level. If he does, then it will be purely down to his wage demands.
Personally think not worth pushing the boat out for. He's achieved very little since his time with us. Sent from my iPhone using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
Very harsh. It's been one season. He backed himself to break into a very good southampton team but unfortunately didn't get much of an opportunity. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk
Or happy to sit back and bank the wages at Southampton depending on how you look at it. Sent from my iPhone using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
I tend not pass judgement on these things without knowing the person and with very little evidence to suggest that he was happy to "sit back and bank the wages". What I do know is that Isgrove got a fair few minutes in pre-season at Southampton, suggesting it was realistic for him to think he could get a shot at the first team squad. When this didn't come to fruition it seemed he was willing to move in the January window to get first team football, but this fell through due to a failed medical. I also know he gave 100% on the pitch for us and looked anything like a player happy to sit back and collect wages. Also, if that is the case then fair play to him. It's a short career and he can do as he pleases. Doesn't make him a worse player than when he left 12 months ago.
Was he that good? Had 4 good games for me. Got dragged off at half time against Chesterfield at home near the end of play off season because he was playing babbar. Decent player...bart it.
Officially confirmed he's been released by Southampton which means he can leave on a free. Would he be good enough for us.? I personally hope we might have better quality players coming in than him but still grateful for what he contributed whilst he was with us. Chuffed for him when he scored at Wembley. What a day that was.
