Nothing to say it could be changed and Grimsby never set a date. Thanks Barnsley. Maybe they can give me the outwards bound ticket money back.
Barnsley announced the game 3PM. I took that and booked travel for that. Then I had a look on the Grimsby site after TBC. Look at this. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/may/first-team-pre-season-schedule-announced/ Nothing that says subject to change.
Bad news for you. Happens to the London and southern based fans quite often for league games when the police force change kick off times at the last minute and its annoying (and expensive)
Always get confirmation from both clubs before booking owt. Put it down as a lesson learnt and be grateful it only cost you a tenner.
For future reference Hemsy, you don't need to book on a specific train journey when using the railways, especially for a trip somewhere like Cleethorpes. It's only usually for main line trips or when you want reservations. You can just buy a ticket for the day of travel that's valid for any train on that date. At a weekend, it will always be off-peak too.
I always feel for you that travel from the south but the EFL and PL always put subject to change. BFC didn't
They do it deliberately to upset you. And it works. or you've decided that off-field activities are now to be placed under your microscope of lunacy. Seeing as Yiadom, Winnall, Roberts, Hourihane have all made you look daft.
Where you travelling from? Cheapest fares from Barnsley and Wakefield are off-peak and anytime respectively both of which aren't time specific. Cheapest from Donny is an advance which is time specific but only costs £6.50.
Got to agree with you lad, its a bit of an arse when things like this happen. But unfortunately for you, unless you travel on the club's official coaches, then they are not responsible for your travel costs. As I keep saying when there is a thread slagging off things the club does, we don't know what has gone off behind the scenes. It's already been mentioned, but there is a bit of an history of violence at Grimsby, so the Bobbies might have put their foot down and forced the change. One thing IS for certain though, it wasn't done just to piss you off. I'd take the advice of others in this thread, and learn from the experience. Open, off peak tickets are readily available and can save you a shot load...
"Please be aware that all fixtures are subject to change. We will keep fans notified any of changes in kick-off times or dates." From the original article posted 18th May 2017. Read more: https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/may/first-team-pre-season-schedule-announced/
Also, from Grimsby's website today they said.... "Kick-off was originally set for 3pm but it has been mutually agreed to bring the kick off time forward." Read more: https://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/2017/june/pre-season-kick-off-change/
Why not just go to the station ON THE DAY and buy a ticket. No need to book in advance for this trip, surely?
Doncaster. Had a look and It was 100% TBC when I checked.
