Sunderland Echo says Hecky top contender.

Heckingbottom recently insisted it would take a huge job to lure him away from Championship rivals Barnsley, adding he is happy with life at Oakwell.Sunderland, though, will be one of the biggest clubs in the Championship next season and despite the financial restrictions, the chance to lead the promotion charge back to the Premier League could yet prove a strong enough attraction.

You have to wonder why the **** they'd want McInnes given he was utter ***** at Bristol City

 

That just reads as idle paper filling rubbish. Probably lifted from a football forum where someone asks what people think of Hecky.

Says McInnes is top choice, and refers to a number of other managers as well. Stating Sunderland would prefer an experienced manager.

As much as we all, bar one supporter, love Hecky, he has got 18 months experience. Big clubs will probably prefer to see how he does rebuilding us this summer, and how we perform next year.

And from Heckys point of view if he goes to Sunderland he will have sky high expectations to achieve instant success. If he doesn't get that he will do his career significant damage.

 

Hope not - we'd be f*cked without him, now.

Personally, I don't think it'll happen. They need a big overhaul, the owner wants out, and hasn't been putting any money into transfers. If Hecky has a decent start here, or a decent full season with us, he'll get a better move than Sunderland. Here's hoping.

 

I think that's a very fair assessment.
Hopefully, Hecky's stock continues to rise this coming season & I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.
In all the years I've been a fan, it's my opinion he's on a par with Allan Clarke first time round as the top gaffer for the quality of his leadership. In fact, when you take into account all the off the field issues beyond his control he's had to deal with (losing two CEO's in a matter of months, the Tommy Wright shenanigans, Patrick Cryne being struck down with incurable cancer), Paul probably edges it. Especially when you look at how we've won two trophies at Wembley, promotion and finishing in our best position since 2000 with him in charge.
He's certainly crammed a great deal of experience in during his short tenure.

 

I'm partly clinging to the hope no "big" clubs come in for him yet. I have no doubt he will end up being a top level manager. His resilience and pragmatic approach to dealing with difficult situations is more than comendable. With managers on average lasting a year I think he'll only leave when he feels he has done all he can at Barnsley. The fact we are in a rebuilding phase will hopefully encourage him to stay and see the project through. He's in a job where he (very rarely for a manager) has a high degree of job security. Unlike some players he does have incredible loyalty to the club. And his management career is 18 months old out of potentially 20 years if he makes sensible choices along the way.

He'll probably leave now! And if he did I'd wish him every luck in the world. Top coach and top man.

 

He comes across as an articulate, modest, extremely intelligent and very well qualified bloke. I hope he's able to fulfil some of his potential with us, but if he does move on, I'll wish him well and be grateful for what he's achieved as Barnsley Head Coach.

 

He may feel he's already done as well as he can with us.

A few weeks ago, Hecky did an interview with radio Sheffield that also appeared on Barnsley Player. That's where the comment comes from, several weeks later in a different context in the Sheffield Star its rehashed.

Oh, and I've no doubt he'll leave us at some stage. I think he has his head screwed on though. Sunderland are a big club, but crikey, they are a complete box of frogs at the minute. And I'd be surprised if offered, he'd go to such a place. Whatever he does, with us or others, he's very detailed in how he thinks and pragmatic in assessments. He'll make the right decision at the right time when he comes to move on.

Weren't Sky reporting that he was set for talks not that he had actually agreed a deal.?

Set for talks, fee agreed means he has gone. I know that, you know that. Im assuming you thought you would make a slight leap of faith and post that he has definitely signed on there. You were told by someone "close to the club" are you sure yoy dont work for sky sports?
