    Just seen one of these kiddies supping from pink valerian flowers in the village. A Hummingbird Hawk Moth. Buzzing like a bee !!

    Hey Kev, I didn't take the photo, in case you thought I did. Just nicked it for "educational purposes". But yes, absolutely wonderful. I've never seen one of these before.
    I was astounded by the size of its nose, beak, proboscis, spikey thing, you get my drift. It was about an inch long and drank from the flowers as it hovered, just like a hummingbird.

    Saw one of those last year and genuinely thought it was a hummingbird that had escaped from an aviary or something.

    we had them down here a few years ago....amazing. Not seen them since.
