I know you havn"t, I didn"t say you had, my contribution was to highlight the constant criticism of the club, you chose then to defend this criticism, thats your perogative.
Course it need improving. We can't all have stadiums like Old Trafford, Etihad, Emirates etc etc. It comes down to an order of priorities. First and foremost we need to invest in the playing side of things. Last time we decided to invest in the ground and not the team we ended up getting relegated with a big away stand thats used once in a blue moon. I'd much rather focus on signing new players than address a couple of weeds by the side of the pitch.
If we can't afford to pull a few weeds up if we sign some players there is something seriously wrong. YTBFC has already stated that there is a maintenance team so presumably they are being paid to maintain the ground so simple tasks such as your example and the issue that Conan has should be getting done. I totally appreciate that bigger projects like painting and and repairing the West Stand and painting the metal work of the East Stand have to come out of capital budgets but without this work we really do face the risk of losing even more capacity.
Not saying we cant afford it, I presume we can afford the maintenance of the ground (even if it hasnt been done yet). Just saying with 6 weeks or so before the start of the season our priorities should be the playing side of things and not moaning about something which in the grand scheme of things is pretty irrelevant.
So one is not dependant on the other. Ergo, they can both be carried out at the same time and discussed on here at the same time. My opinion - and I am sure you will disagree - is that the entire stadium needs a bit of TLC, and the West Stand is an embarrassment for a Championship Club in 2017/18. Not asking for it to be rebuilt but if we can't give the stadium a sprucing up in a year of record turnover, it doesn't bode well for the future.
It'll improve the sides for the season but it needs pulling down, throwing money after money at it. Pillars in the way, uncomfortable seats, I sat in the Upper for the Brentford game, never again and I had a season ticket up there from 84-93. The big away stand that sold out for Newcastle, Weds, Leeds etc etc, and sells out 4/5/6 times a season in this division. Sell outs next year against Blades, Sunderland, Leeds, Villa, Weds... its made us a boat load of money over the years. Well done JD.
Boro, Derby, Hull, Forest will also bring good numbers and possibly sell out depending on the importance of the game at the time.
of course it does, so does my house, so do most things, but at the end of the day, when do you stop knit picking ? I have watched the reds for over 55 years & things have changed a lot over the years, but the one thing which has not, is the buzz I get from watching my team. Thats what it is all about to me, & you get good , bad & indifferent on the pitch & once I stop enjoying it, I will stop going, however, if I felt so strongly that everything within the club appears to be wrong through your eyes, well then I would be looking for another pastime .
I'd suggest if you want to know about improvements to the club infrastructure you address it to the relevant people rather than asking someone in the media team who has his own job to do and is still good enough to come on here and give us whatever insights and info he's able to.
The stuff about Whitey is daft and I hope he reconsiders for the sake of the many not the few... The stadium needs a spruce it's becoming an embarrassment. It should be a priority. Providing a decent safe, well decorated well presented ground should be a top priority for those in charge at Oakwell. In these days of choice it's asking a bit much for people to sit in a dilapidated **** hole. I say that from a position of love of Oakwell. I do not criticise any individual. I can appreciate the financial pressures on the club and the demands of the fanbase in terms of signings but taking your customers for granted is a mistake for any business.
Why's that? He comes on here to talk BFC, share with us what he can. In return he gets idiots asking stupid questions and including him in the blame game they love to play because BFC isnt Real feckin Madrid.
