    Used to use em both back in my Wombwell days, then when they'd both retired I went back to Mad Geoff's at Darfield. Nicest bloke on Earth he was (God rest his soul) but he never actually asked how you wanted your hair doing. If he had No.4 on his clippers, that's what you got. Like soup of the day but with hair cuts instead.

    True story about Mad Geoff. I once saw a kid ask for stars and Nike ticks shaving into his head. Geoff told him he couldn't do them but would see what he could do. After 5 mins of concentrating, tongue sticking out, with his mini clippers, he had shaved in the most perfect pair of DUCKS you could imagine into the sides of the young lad's head.
    Was even funnier how the little lad's Mum had to politely pretend that they were both well impressed with his artwork.

    Our lasses Cousin Des used to go to Mad Geoffs. He was telling him about an upcoming coaching holiday he was going on to
    France and Italy which culminated in a Papal blessing in St Peters Square.
    Geoff related he'd been on the same holiday and it was crap. Food terrible in the hotels they stayed in and right at the back for the Popes visit once they got the square.
    He said if our Des didn't agree with him when he got back he'd cut his hair free for a year.

    When Des got back he was telling Geoff about his trip and said he was in broad agreement with him apart from the visit
    to the Vatican. True they were one of the last coaches to arrive and were at the back, but he had some binoculars which he trained on the Pontiff.

    The Pope raised his hand to start the blessing which boomed out across the square " E nomene , et a partre" then he stopped
    a benign smile playing across his lips, he made his way across the balcony and started to descend the steps to the square below. He gently parted the crowds and made a bee line still smiling until he stood in front of our Des.

    He stood arms wide open and was giggling right in front of Des. Geoff said did he say Ow't". Des said he looked at me and said " Who the fuc*ing hell cuts your hair."?

    He was a great guy, loved the local people too. Darfield lost one of its best when he departed us.
