The Senna film is probably the greatest sporting film ever made. I'm biased like, but the missus hates F1 yet she watched it with me, not knowing the story and she cried. Magical story but sad as ****.

I couldn't give a toss about F1 and I have no idea who Vettel is, what he's done or where he comes from.

    You absolute wally, Phillip.

Borderline nothing - as far as I can see it just is.

Then again, while it's completely unacceptable, I mostly just find this kind of xenophobia a bit sad. I count people from places as diverse as Turkey and Canada as close friends - if I'd ever decided to start looking down on people based on where they were born, before even speaking to them, then my social circle would have been much the worse for it.

To be perfectly honest if we were to look down on people based on where they are from then most of us would never walk out of our front doors. I'm extremely proud to be from Barnsley because of the people but there is no denying that it's a bit of a shithole in large parts and if we are judging people on where they are from then we must include our neighbours and indeed ourselves in that.

That crafty old Hun Klinsman used to get a penalty for dangerous diving.

There was a time when it was bewildering to watch Germans rolling about in European football matches as though they'd been shot, following relatively innocuous challenges. But then again all those below a certain European latitude did the same. Now we are often as culpable.

Perhaps we could prohibit such gamesmanship via the Great Repeal Bill.

Didn't Schumacher crash into Damon Hill to stop him winning the championship ?
Or has my memory failed me again .

1.21 onwards. Sorry but it's Rosberg all over again. The first sentence he says isn't true in my opinion. A lot of us will have watched this and seen that Lewis didn't break he just didn't speed up after the warming from the first safety car. He has shown zero remorse to Lewis.

People comparing a dive and this are equally crazy. He could have damaged car number 44 today and left Lewis a sitting duck. He's fully well aware of the fragile nature of an F1 car. Since I've been watching F1 of Vettel, Rosberg and Schumacher have been nothing sort of scary.

They are always the first to go off on one when things happen to them too. kvyat lost his Red Bull seat because of the pressure Sebastian put on Christan Horner. Then he was one of the main ones to go at Verstappen after he made a rookie mistake. He didn't like it when Australia's Daniel Ricciardo started getting the better of him. Some of the things Webbers said about him aren't great either.

Would you dislike them as much if they weren't German?

So, the reason he did it was because he is German? And if he was, let's say Brazilian, then it wouldn't have happened?

If Lewis had or Julian Pamer had done this then I would say what I have done today.
My initial post was an angry one but I still maintain that the people that have done this over the time i've watched F1 are the three names mentioned.

Lewis complains a lot at times and I will say just concentrate on the race Lewis Hamilton.

Too many 'whinging poms' on here :) ( or is that xenophobic)

Saying being German means someone has a pre-disposition to cheat is clearly nonsensical.

However, to argue that all nations and cultures are identical with no 'national characteristics' (good or bad) is equally nonsensical.

Britain has a reputation as a drinking and fighting culture going back hundreds of years which is still demonstrated by certain groups of young rowdy tourists and football fans when abroad. Germans (particularly in sports) have a determination and hatred of losing that sometimes means they push the boundaries of what is acceptable behaviour through sheer desire to win which, whilst rarely 'cheating' , is seen by many as unacceptable.
In F1 Schumaker, Rosberg, Senna, Prost, Max Verstappen and even Hamilton of old (to name but a few) have sometimes crossed the boundary of what is acceptable and what is not. It is clearly on display in football with many continental players and South American (and sadly in relatively recent times extended to the UK leagues) diving and feigning injury and crowding referees to get opponents sent off.

In the particular case of Vettel the initial offence was compounded by his subsequent denial that he had done anything wrong and trying to shift the blame onto Hamilton something that Rosberg also did on more than one occasion. A national trait? Don't think so in the same way that 'Ice man' Kimi Does not mean that all Finns are completely unperturbed whatever happens.

Finally, a joke about national traits (perceived or otherwise) should be taken as that, a joke. At the rate we are going with PC every topic will be off limits. "Cheese eating surrender monkeys" From Mr Burns in the Simpsons is funny due perceptions that the French are useless in warfare. That is the opposite of what is true as witnessed by the number of military terms that are french: Battalion, dragoon, cavalry, artillery, reconnaissance volley, siege, are just a handful of many many words.

Phil, you are a attention seeker but that doesn't make everyone in England one.

Like LDRed i've met plenty of German people whilst on holiday and got on very well, Vettall was wrong in what he did.

It's unacceptable for Germans to lose, at anything!

I can't wait until we get a German manager, this board will be bonkers.
