What do we reckon? We signed him on a 2 year contract. What should BFC do? Offer him a new 3 year deal? Wait until January, see what he's like, then offer him one and risk him rejecting it? What if we offer him one and he's not as good as expected or gets injured? Just keen to hear what people think before we get going. Because sure as eggs are eggs there will be people with a different opinion once they have a bit of hindsight! That Beautiful little lady that she is! My opinion? If we thought he was good when we signed him, have rehabilitated him a year, ask him to sign a 1 year extension with a club option on second. Offers him security an extra year, us a minimum extra year and 2 if he's quality. If he's worried about wage then give him a 25 game increase on basic wage. hard work running a football club. Who knows what's best!
God forbid he could get injured again. Think we go with what we have and review prior to Jan. Perhaps in Oct time? He's an absolutely lovely guy though after meeting him when my son was mascot last season. Sent from my iPhone using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
I agree pal. Give him a few months, but if he starts off like a steam train you just know he'll agent will whisper Aston Villa in his ear come October.... but if we give him a 3 year deal now he'll pop his knee pre season. I would still offer him atleast a 1 year extension come start of season if he proves fitness. And I have heard he is the consummate professional and a good guy
I just want him to turn out to be a quality player. The better he is the better it is for us while he's here. Hecky should have a pretty good idea from training whether it is worth extending his contract or not. So if he is rated an early contract extention should be offered. See how he does in pre-season. If he seems good enough and fit enough then offer 1 year extension. Might be wrong but wasn't he just starting to make some appearances off the bench before he got injured? Which suggests Hecky has some faith in him and will probably already be thinking about the possibility of whether to offer a new deal.
Saw him a few times when he first came and his technique looked a bit suspect, maybe that's his style but it was certainly unorthodox at what is a relatively high level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wouldn't offer him a new deal. For one he needs to earn a contract with performance. Give him a 3 year deal now and and in a way it gives him a license to sack it off like we've seen with so many over the years. If he's looking good and gets in the team then yes offer an extension but certainly not just yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Year extension right now. Looking forward to all the folks claiming we could have done anything when he walks for nothing.
Doesn't matter, his full name is Sessi Octave Emile D'Almeida. And he's got dreads. What more do you want? Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk
Only seen him briefly, in a pre season friendly against Hull last year. Without sounding harsh, he resembled something of an headless chicken - ran around, a lot, through himself into a few challenges and had a few pops on goal. Obviously, this was his first real game in front of the Oakwell crowd, so he was probably eager to impress, but he looked the type of player that would give 110%, so happy to give him a chance and see how he develops, hopefully another gem in the making.
All being well, we've got the option to extend his contract anyway, so I reckon if he hits the ground running then we could activate such a clause, (if one exists). We'll have to see how it goes. He might not be a regular based on how we're setting the team up and he might not even be that good. As pointed out above though, he does have dreadlocks. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
