I saw something that said Paul Clement was prepared to offer cash and McBurnie in exchange for Yiadom . He was born in Leeds and originally signed for Man Utd before joining Bradford City in 2013. He failed to score in fifteen outings for City and was loaned out to Chester scoring five in fourteen outings for them. He joined Swansea in 2015 for an undisclosed fee and played five games without scoring before going to Newport on loan. He scored three in three games at Rodney Parade and was then loaned out to Bristol Rovers in 2016 where he failed to find the net in five games. He stands 6' 2" and is 21 years old so he certainly fits our profile. He's played 4 times for Scotland U19's scoring once and has played seven times for the U21's again finding the net just the once. Question is looking at his past record is he good enough for the Championship.?
That's my concern. If we are pinning our hopes on a kid with so little experience and goals behind him at senior level its time to worry.
I'll back out scouting team that if he's good enough and we spend a bit of the cash we got for Winnall, Bree and Hourihane then I'd rather we sign him than loan him. Be a busy couple of weeks I think.
Wonder if our Chairman as still any clout at Manchester United and can persuade them to loan us another young up and coming striker.
You've just read some of the alternatives for half proven prospects ,an absolute fortune . Hecky will have worked out whether theres any potential in the lad and if he can bring him on ,have faith, that goes for any prospects ,not saying he's on the list but if he is in Hecky and the team we trust.
Have you got any suggestions for a cheap proven championship striker? Or a spare 10 million say? We can't afford big names or proven championship strikers so we have to bring in these young prospects to prove themselves and make them big names.
Or we could be bringing him in to boost the team and squad, rather than pin our hope s entirely upon him
Fair point. I think though it can be misleading sometimes looking at the history of young players (I've done it myself!). I don't think anybody would have been that enthused about Ashley Fletcher, Lloyd Isgrove or Josh Brownhill on that basis. I guess we can never be sure until we try them. I'd love us to sign a striker with a proven Championship scoring record but it's not going to happen. Every player we sign will be a gamble, albeit calculated.
It may look strange, but we payed 3 million for a striker that scored 16 in Ligue 2. He went on to sell for 15 million the next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like the type of player we need. Doesn't need necessarily to be a 20 goal a season striker, if we can get Bradshaw & our various midfielders hitting the onion bag regularly.
Tall & mobile. Should be able to play as a one up front, or someone for Bradshaw to play off. Whether he cuts it remains to be seen (assuming we do sign / loan him), but he is the type we should be looking for IMHO. I'd rather sign one or two players like this than take back Armstrong for example, who maybe has more experience, but doesn't suit our style of play. He doesn't need to weigh in with bucket loads of goals, if midfield are scoring too.
