Our little puppy-to-be. We decided that we would take on this little mite along with Finch as she was the last puppy left out of the litter. We knew she had potential health problems but we offered to give her a chance in life, who knows, she could have gone on for years. We went with her and Finch to the vet this morning for Finch to have his first jab and for her to have her jab if possible as well as a health check. Finch was top notch... but.. little Rosie was diagnosed with a level 4 heart murmur, the vet felt it straight away and she let me feel it too. Poor little thing, she probably will not survive beyond weeks or months at best. We had not actually "bought" her yet so in that respect we were advised not to. The future for Rosie was not good and would probably cost a fortune in medications and care. We simply cannot do it. Even anaesthetic might kill her if she needed an operation. The murmur will get worse the vet thinks. When we took her back to the current lady owner she was totally devastated, in floods of tears knowing that there was only going to be one outcome. She has spent hours and hours caring for the little pup and is grief stricken at the news. There was nothing I could say... what can you say? Rosie is so tiny, about five pounds in weight compared with eleven pounds for Finch. She has such fight and determination. Maybe somebody will offer to take her, someone with time, patience and buckets of money, who knows that she may not live too much longer. We'd have loved to have her, she'd have been spoilt rotten. Bless you, little one.
So sorry to hear, old mate, for you and yours Mrs after what you've been through and especially for Rosie.
This was actually her second opinion today. We knew she'd been diagnosed with a level 2 murmur by the lady's own vet but it had obviously got worse. I could feel her tiny heart thumping so quickly, it was racing. Something to do with a "valve" not closing after birth. I feel so devastated for her.
