Aye because that's the only option. We don't recall us selling the entire team under Clarke or Wilson or Hunter. Bobby Collins might have had to flog David Geddis but he didn't sell the whole team. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
I am very close to dropping the club. I am pissed off that there is still radio silence about why our ex CEO left. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth that so little is thought about the customers that the club feels they don't deserve an explanation. I'm angry that what was a fantastic stadium just 20 years ago has been left to rot and decay due to a decade of neglect under the current ownership. Again it's the fans that suffer. I am really annoyed that we sell ALL our players because we are a club devoid of ambition and that a season ticket at Barnsley lasts longer than a player's registration. I am fuming that even our new CEO has admitted that players grow quicker than the club does. That is nothing to be embarrassed about its ******* embarrassing that a multimillion company has completely failed to grow and the reason is short termism and having the owners head turned all the time. But honestly what annoys me most. What has left me absolutely outraged is that no matter how many players we sell, how much money we earn there is literally **** all being spent. It is an absolute disgrace. It is quite honestly taking the absolute piss out of the fans and I have had about as much of it as I can take
Also the one commodity hecky doesnt have.....which everyone who is clammering for our millions has not mentioned is ......time. Winnall.....hourahane.....all of em took 2 to 3 seasons to become improved ....well coached competent (and more)players in the leagues we have been in. Now we have to do it all again from scratch. I know we will all be behind them but i see that as our biggest challange. Too much ....too quick ....keeping my fingers crossed. Looks like he will be going out to Hungary with hardly a first team 11 never mind a squad!!
We are just a player factory not a team.
Yep.
If we do get relegated this season then it will be self inflicted. Selling all our best players. Has this happened before, without us having dropped a division? People regularly on here claim some level of superiority to other clubs who ship in foreign owners who run it like a business, rather than a club that treasures its fans community connection roots etc. and dreams of and pushes for the best footballing outcome that can be achieved. For the last few months our club has been run like a business. Anyway, perhaps assembling a new team is after all an excercise that requires no essence of continuity at all. Get 11 freshers to turn out after you've taken 'em to Hungary for a week, and hey presto you win more than you lose.
IF this is the start of structuring contracts better to give some certainty and consistency then fair enough - that's what Hecky alluded to after January. I hope the new Chief Exec has been given the freedom to work to that ethos. Sent from the darkest recesses of a poisoned mind.
Longer term contracts won't be for keeping the players longer- it will be for maximising transfer fees.
If you maximise profit it may mean that you sell less I guess. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
It's a transional thing. I don't think it will be like this forever. When we reach a steady state we will have no need to showcase / sell. I for one love how we are doing business. Loving the journey. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
I honestly believe if we get a good bid in January for one of the new lads we will sell. I'm sure of it.
I'm not perhaps as negative as you about things 'I used to be a cynic but my hearts not in it'...you are probably right though. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
