Birmingham. They had the chance to sign Robbo for nothing before we signed him.We took the gamble on a Non league centre half they didn't.Its now cost them 3.5/5.5m to get him.
Pretty sure they'd have paid us more than £3.5m to develop and give a non league player lots of game time if Roberts was the outcome. We are basically the championship B team, try out non league players at risk to us then throw us a bit of shrapnel. Humiliating.
We are a Championship club on merit not a B team for any body. The average life span for a player at any club is around 2 years. Our signing of some non league and lower league players has been very successful so far.If after 2 years the player moves on for a bigger deal for himself and his family good luck to them. They benefit and as a club we benefit. This preseason we have sold one player for a massive profit and in turn we have fetched 4/5 new players in.I don't count Watkins or Scowen in this because they had the right to seek pastures new after serving us so well.I remember after Wembley last year when we lost about 7 of the squad some on here were moaning about getting relegated and not strengthening the team but we did and we had a very good return to the Championship.P.H will be more prepared for this season than last. He'll know more of whats required to have a competitive team at this level. Its going to be hard because its a very hard league but I for one don't see "the inevitable relegation" as some one mentioned this morning.I see a young fit ambitious squad ,coach and club with a deep passion and a terrific group of supporters who will back them week in week out.
