Roberts Free and Mawson probably around 400k ??? 2 years later we have sold both fot a rumoured over 10m Great business.
To replace Roberts - a 'tried and tested' Championship player worth £3.5M then we will have to buy a 'tried and tested Championship player' worth £3.5M. Anything cheaper has a much higher RISK attached to it. Swansea bought a relatively cheap Premeirship RISK when they bought Mawson - that risk payed off for them.
Unless Cryne calls in his loans, then it's all being reinvested. Only a proportion of it is being reinvested in player purchases, the rest of it is being reinvested in covering the club's running costs. I do understand your frustration but I'm ok with the type of player and outlay we're working on. I think the calibre of the current new recruits is higher, therefore represents a lower risk than the previous batch. I also believe in Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny.
So do I ... I think the new lads will be fine, long term.... But I just wonder how forgiving the Championship will be with a team full of strangers .. One or two in a new team fine, but 8, 9 maybe even 10 new comers starting..? Don't anyone underestimate Heckys challenge next season...
That money was never discussed in your previous statement. Furthermore do you think getting loans such as James were completely free?
No. What am I saying that we may have spent 4-5m in the past year but that hasn't exclusively come from that £10m has it? We do have other sources of income.
No of course not. But on the same note we also have other types of expenditure apart from just transfers - Other clubs getting their sell on percentage of our sales for example. It isn't as simple as we've sold £xMillion of players, therefore thats what we have to spend. PC isn't sat in his little office thinking 'right thats 40 million for me' He has done (and continues to do) what is in the best interests of the club. If we go ahead and spend 6-7 million this season then I trust that thats what we can afford to spend.
