    It's what I was meaning about communication. It's massive for any business like a football club. Anything comes out he can just swat it away.

    I don't want to talk about politics much after the last couple of months on here but President Trumps brilliant at it. Just kills anything negative or tells people about the positives before it's anything more than a small flame.

    I never doubted he had been offered a deal. Yiadom watkins scowern also turned deals down a few months back.

    I can say for definite he wasn't. The club are getting critcism so are trying to spin their way out of it. An initial sounding out was done Marc was more than willing to listen. He was promised that we would get in touch we never did. Linton leaving possibly was the reason it fell through the cracks but we shouldn't lie about it.

    Tend to agree with Jimmy C on this. Surely all the club has to do is put out a clear statement along the lines of:-

    We made a formal offer to Marc of a new three year contract on {insert date} on terms akin to those of our highest earner, commensurate with Marc’s standing as team captain, senior player, player of the season and top-ranked championship defender, but without breaking our wage structure.


    We also explained our vision for the future to Marc and offered to enter negotiations on the offer to see if there were things that, at the margin, could be improved to close a deal.


    However, after direct discussions and his further consideration, Marc informed the club that he did not want to accept the new deal and so, rather than lose Marc for nothing in 2018 and having agreed a fee with Birmingham City we then reluctantly gave permission for him to talk to them, leading to today’s transfer.

    The fact that they can't put out such a simple statement, inevitably leads to the conclusion that they didn't do the things in it.

    I don't like losing our best players but can accept it better if I know that we have done all we can within our lesser resources to keep them and have made the effort to negotiate as much as possible.

    (I'd also like to understand our policy on selling to the teams around us in the league too but the above would at least be a start).
