I think it's because it's supposed to be more than just a library and the library will be called he library at... Simply because of its design and where it is situated I think the best name is the beacon. The lightworks will get confusing with the glassworks being directly opposite. The meeting place doesn't sound like a name it sounds like a description. So it comes down to the lightbox or the beacon and with the library being a large part it sounds better as beacon instead of lightbox. The library at the lightbox sounds a bit too many L's. I also like the idea of it being the beacon lighting the town square

Whatever it will be called folks will still call it Barnsley Library. Why the need for stupid trendy names dreamed up just to try to impress the loose-jawed minority?
