I don't think he will be here on 1st September. We need to give ourselves enough to find a replacement.
http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...adom-talks-to-extinguish-exit-fears-1-8629665 From snippets I have gathered, we are to offer him (or have) top paid player and captain. Whether that's enough, time will tell. Good sign that he went to Hungary I guess?
My favourite line from that YP report: "Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has re-joined Burton Albiono on a season-long loan."
So if he goes and we don't bring anyone in, we will have those two at full back and Kpekwa as cover. Have I forgotten someone?
Heard we've offered him a very good deal. And would add to the feel good factor on top of a spate of seemingly good acquisitions, if we could retain Yids. Then we would have a core of Davies, McDonald, Yiadom, Moncur, Hammill & Bradshaw to bed the new signings around over preseason. And when we get the expected additional signings and the premierleague loans in we can then hopefully strengthen key areas where needed. As everyone's pointed out a million times we just don't know yet how good this team will be. I tend to be an eternal optimist and fully trust Hecky and the scouting team to have recruited mostly well. not expecting them all to be instant glowing successes. Some may take a year to grown into the squad, like Moncur did. Others may never develop like we hoped, like Elliot Lee. Would Love Yiadom to stay. Think he's a smashing player, and sounds like a great lad around the dressing room. If he wants to go, and we get big money for him, then so be it. I hope we would spend some of that money buying a few new players to hopefully excel in the same way he did in the year he's been here. A brilliant free signing though regardless!
i would offer him a new two-year deal, top dollar in wages and the captaincy, which is what Barnet did before we signed him (apart from the two-year deal). I am pretty sure that we would be offering him the captaincy in any case. Who else would be skipper? If he doesn't want a contract extension, I would be looking to play Hudders off against Swansea for £5 million. Do you think BFC has made enough money now for the whole business to go into retirement somewhere? I was more than a little concerned that the acquisition of Fryers was as replacement for Yiadom. Contract extension, or we should cash in.
I suspect the signing of fryers was more to do with us not having a recognised left back in the squad than replacing yiadom.
I was just going to post something similar, about his contract situation at Barnet. I think Yids appears to have some loyalty in himself, and also I think he would rather be playing regularly for us than a bench warmer or bit part player at Huddersfield or Swansea.
I thought McCarthy would be playing RB so in reality would be Bree's replacement. Still only leaves us with three full backs all of unknown quality.
Kpekwa and Williams. Not saying I agree with his statement... was just saying thats what he was probably suggesting.
