Used to go to then when I was younger, but now with family and work its additional cost etc. I think the last one I went to was v Santos prior to our Premier League season! I've also come to value time without football, spend my weekend time cycling and getting outdoors during the close season when not working. Once I've been to The Open in mid-late July, I then start building up for football again.

Me, I used to go to as many as I could years ago, but can't be arsed with 'em these days, I think the man city game a few years back was the last one I attended, sithi.

I love friendlies. It's a chance to see Barnsley when we aren't trying to get a nil nil draw to scrape to 50 points.

We usually play attacking football and the team don't look scared. Players aren't picked because of their name either with the fringe players getting a rare chance and more often than not they she why we signed them.

Oh and it's usually nice weather

Thought it was only a point for a draw?

It is but then I never said that we try to get a draw in all 46 games

I haven't bothered since Santos in 97 and can't see a world where I will bother again.

They are a waste of money. I have enough trouble affording the proper games.

Had plenty of opportunities to see the lads not looking scared and playing for a draw last season and the season before.

I don't think there are many times when we play for goalless draws to be fair, not out of the whole season, in fact there aren't a lot of games where we didn't score.

We do it as soon as we get near the 50 point mark and nerves creep in. The problem is that when you get scared and start playing like that then you tend to get poorer results which means the defensive nervy football carries on for longer as you still try to secure safety.

Anyway my point wasn't that we are negative, it was that in friendlies there is no fear or pressure so players who don't usually try shots will have a crack etc

I have been to a few over the years usually to new grounds or at home to interesting opposition .
    Away at ....
Morecambe , Gainsborough Trinity , Boston United , Brigg Town (to watch a young side ) .
Home to Man City was good .
Home to Santos I found out that Tinkler was too similar to Redders for that partnership to work .
It was rumoured that we had been after Kevin Richardson , that would have been a better partnership .

Enjoyable! Got the chance to visit Weston super mare and Cheltenham last year, 2 places I'd not been before. Sunny day, odd pint, watch the reds, what's not to like

I really enjoy every opportunity to see our lads play, so I go to most friendlies. Nice relaxed atmosphere, a couple of beers and get to see the new faces. You don't learn a lot from the team performances or results, but you do learn little bits about the tactics employed and individual strengths and weaknesses. Looking forward to Guiseley on Tuesday.

I dont bother & I can never understand why some supporters take the result so seriously. I remember the season we got promoted to the premier league was preceded by a string of poor results in the friendlies, just highlighting that the results count for nothing.

I went to the Scun Utd friendly and we played very well winning 2-0 .
Matty Appleby was outstanding as sweeper .

I don't care about results in these games (unless they're really concerning like if we lost 5-0 on Tuesday!) but it's a good chance to see how we're playing and stepping up before the season starts

I'm off to Guiseley as it's just down the road. Looking forward to it!

Results in friendly matches mean nothing . Remember Newcastle losing something like 7-0 to orient then went on and got 100 points in the championship
