...to be relegated https://m.oddschecker.com/m/football/english/championship/relegation Are we ever not predicted to go down before a season in the championship If we had lost in the play off final they would still have had us going down
Pretty fair assessment I'd say. We are going into the season with only a handful of players that have played together or played in the championship before, huge chance it is going to go badly wrong. You need to take your blinkers off if you think we're going into this season in a strong position.
We need to have the same game plan and application from the players as the second half of the promotion season and first half of Champioship. That period we never let the opposition settle and pushed high up the field which enabled us to impose our game . Imo I think the recruitment has been undertaken with that in mind and if Hecky's instructions are imposed and executed to within 90% of his plan I think we'll do ok. If we set off the season struggling I think the reserves will be used to halt it so at this stage of season even with an almost unknown team in terms of gelling etc I personally have no concerns with the betting fraternity's predictions or expectations.
It will be tough. It's a big challenge. But if we do go down it will be with a team of young, talented players, stronger for their experience and a very healthy bank account.
Agree with everything said here. If Hecky prevents relegation he will have done well. If Hecky is able to get us near the top then he's a genius. Although there has been excitement surrounding the 7 new signings - non of these signings are tried and tested at Championship level and could easily be found wanting especially in the first few months. So the high risk of relegation depends greatly on who we sign in the next few weeks.
Seems a fair enough assessment to me. It's where I'd put us though we will finish above Millwall and Bolton. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fans Forum
Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, nor am I concerned. Even if we bring in another two or three strikers and are supplemented with a few other signings, I still think this coming season will be a challenge. But I believe Hecky, his staff & the squad of players will rise to meet that challenge. I accept & respect that others don't agree with this view, quite the opposite in fact, as is their right.
While ever we have Hecky leading us we have more than a fighting chance. I don't think we'll be relegated.
So we'll have failed then... Going on the top 6 great season, mid-table OK season... bottom 3 failure... And how many of our " team of young, talented players, stronger for their experience" players will want to stay and drop to L1 I wonder...
I have no fear about relegation, I expect. With the significant investment. We've made us to do even better this season
The risk of relegation depends greatly on who every club signs and while they could be found wanting they could also be found to be excelling
You have missed the 'i must post the opposite view to everyone else even if I don't actually think it because I like the attention's factor that goes in to Tommy's postings
Compared to many previous seasons, in fact probably any, we've spent more in the last 18 months than ever. Mowatt, McGeehan, Moncur, Pinnock. They didnt come cheap. I'm not saying they'll succeed but to say we haven't invested is untrue.
Got to be optimistic, im liking the chemistry, Hamill n Fryers, isgrove n other Southampton lad, 4 lads competing for middle of park....just need strikers sorting, Bradshaw needs to prove himself at this level this season. Bookies odds dont always come in as some of us well know ! Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk
Is that aimed at me - because that is the twaddle you tend to spout at me? If it's aimed at Mad Mark or others then you need to look in the mirror regarding yer 'attention seeking' posts.
I don't recall any big signings. I mean I'm not criticising the ones we've made but I don't think any are huge signings that explain Tyrone's post
