We know that Reds fans are spoiled for choice when we wish to express an opinion on things that interest us in general or on the day to day events concerning our beloved Club. For some three years there hasn't been a day that's gone by when I haven't checked out our fans views on all things Barnsley FC on both Footy Mad and BBS Barnsley FC. It's no surprise to me that the same topics seem to be discussed on both boards. In October of last year I decided to register as a Member of BBS in deference to joining FM. We know that some BBS members also post on Footy Mad. Like myself for those who post on the BBS I would be interested to hear what motivated you to join this board instead of giving your opinions on Footy Mad.?
When I had a go on fm after bbc606 got shut down I found them to be shockingly overtly racist. There's plenty of that on here but there's not anywhere near the same scale. Miss the atmosphere on bbc606 but this place is the closest I've found.
In January 2004 I read an article in the Barnsley Chronicle about the then BBS raising money for Geoff Thomas' leukaemia charity. We'd only had a computer for a few months and, daft as it sounds, I didn't realise there were things like independent fan's forums available. Anyway, I joined up, made a contribution to Geoff's charity and have been on here ever since. I've made many good, life long friends thanks to this site and the BBS contributors have always been kind and extremely generous where my daughter's health, well being and charity work was concerned. Even allowing for the many arguments I've had here, the good times and people far outweigh the bad.
In the mid 90s when I was discovering the internet (amongst other things) I came across Radders Chatrooms which is a forerunner of this forum. It was fun but much more liable to get you a kicking. Living abroad for a few years and a decrease in the fun and increase in the bellends about 2000 meant I didn't bother for about 4 years. When I cam back to England I registered but couldn't be arsed to contribute. I looked at Tykes Mad but didn't like tbe format /adverts/uniformity so never bothered. Probably my loss as my favourite posters in here are people who post on both and have come over to here like yourself
I used to post on Tykesmad before coming here. Like DusthanoIII I found there was a constant racist undertone on there. In addition there were endless childish and sometimes nasty slanging matches with fans of other clubs. It got to be like a very unsavoury kids playground. I have a fair few arguments on here and I'm sure I get on other peoples nerves sometimes as much as they get on mine but the standard of debate is a lot higher, less toxic and it's generally a much nicer place to inhabit.
There seems to be two Snap Tins Lad as posts are appearing under my name which I haven't written. They are very good but it's all gerrin a bit confusing. Please delete my account Moderators.
And which ones are the phantom posts made by somebody else? The only ones I see from your name are the ones you have written. Nice flounce by the way, are you Whitey's brother?
Found this place one day when looking for transfer rumors. Looked funny. That wore off after a while. Its more of an addiction now. I don't want to do it, and it makes me itch, but I can't help myself. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
Probably more or less the same all round (including reasons for not using TM), but instead of living abroad I just stopped following football for a while (probably because I've never lived near enough to Oakwell to get a season ticket). Vaguely remember Radders but think I started on the forums on the official site (unless I'm misremembering) somewhere in the mid to late 90s - was Radders just after that, or were they concurrent?
